The Campsite or the Cabin

Xander and Nasrin drive to the lake for the weekend. They stop at the entrance and look at the map.

Xander y Nasrin manejan hasta el lago para el fin de semana. Se detienen en la entrada y miran el mapa.

"We can camp by the water," Xander says. "Or we can rent a cabin," he says.

«Podemos acampar junto al agua», dice Xander. «O podemos alquilar una cabaña», dice él.

"The campsite is a good price," Nasrin says.

«El campamento tiene un buen precio», dice Nasrin.

"But rain comes tonight," Xander says, and checks his phone.

«Pero esta noche va a llover», dice Xander, y revisa su celular.

Nasrin looks up at the gray clouds above the trees. "A cabin sounds dry and warm," she says.

Nasrin mira hacia arriba, hacia las nubes grises sobre los árboles. «Una cabaña suena seca y calentita», dice ella.

"Let's just get the cabin this time," Xander says.

«Mejor tomemos la cabaña esta vez», dice Xander.

They drive to the small row of wooden cabins. The owner gives them a key for cabin four. Inside, there is a bed, a stove, and a window.

Manejan hasta la pequeña fila de cabañas de madera. El dueño les da una llave para la cabaña cuatro. Adentro hay una cama, una estufa y una ventana.

Rain starts to fall. They light the stove right away. They sit by the window and watch the drops fall.

Empieza a caer la lluvia. Encienden la estufa de inmediato. Se sientan junto a la ventana y miran caer las gotas.

Nasrin makes tea on the little stove. Xander opens a bag of cards for a game.

Nasrin hace té en la pequeña estufa. Xander abre una bolsa de cartas para jugar.

Outside, the campsite tents sit empty in the storm.

Afuera, las carpas del campamento quedan vacías bajo la tormenta.

"We made the right choice," Nasrin says, and laughs. They play cards and listen to the rain all night.

«Tomamos la decisión correcta», dice Nasrin, y se ríe. Juegan cartas y escuchan la lluvia toda la noche.
