The Campsite or the Cabin

Friends Xander and Nasrin weigh a cheap lakeside campsite against a dry cabin, and rain settles the choice for them.
Xander and Nasrin drive to the lake for the weekend. They stop at the entrance and look at the map. "We can camp by the water," Xander says. "Or we can rent a cabin," he says. "The campsite is a good price," Nasrin says. "But rain comes tonight," Xander says, and checks his phone. Nasrin looks up at the gray clouds above the trees. "A cabin sounds dry and warm," she says. "Let's just get the cabin this time," Xander says. They drive to the small row of wooden cabins. The owner gives them a key for cabin four. Inside, there is a bed, a stove, and a window. Rain starts to fall. They light the stove right away. They sit by the window and watch the drops fall. Nasrin makes tea on the little stove. Xander opens a bag of cards for a game. Outside, the campsite tents sit empty in the storm. "We made the right choice," Nasrin says, and laughs. They play cards and listen to the rain all night.
