This page explains how to delete data associated with your Storyteller account and app usage,
in line with Google Play's Data Safety requirements. It complements our
Privacy Policy.
Current version: Storyteller only offers anonymous sign-in (no email,
password, or name is collected). Your account is identified only by a random ID, so most
users have nothing to "delete" beyond uninstalling the app - but if you used
"Sync now", some learning data may exist on our servers, and you can request
its removal below.
1. Data you can remove yourself, right now
Uninstall the app - removes all local, on-device data immediately:
downloaded stories/audio/dictionary files, reading settings, local vocabulary/progress not
yet synced, and any daily-reminder schedule.
Never tap "Sync now" - if you'd rather keep everything local-only, simply
don't use the sync feature; no learning data is ever sent to our servers.
2. Requesting deletion of synced data
If you have used "Sync now" at least once, the following data may be stored under your
account (anonymous or signed-in) in our database:
This immediately and permanently deletes your Firestore data (the items listed above)
and your Firebase Authentication account. There is no 30-day wait - it takes effect
right away.
Fallback: request deletion by email
Use this only if you can no longer access the app (e.g. you uninstalled it or lost the
device) and can't use the in-app option above.

with the subject line Data deletion request.
Include the approximate date you used the app and, if possible, the device/platform
(Android) - this helps us locate the right account, since no email or name is tied to an
anonymous one.
We will delete the associated Firestore data within
30 days of receiving your request and confirm by
email once complete.
3. What gets deleted vs. what may remain
Deleted: all data listed in Section 2, tied to the account/device you
identify.
May remain briefly: anonymized crash reports and aggregate analytics
events, which are not linked to your identity and are retained per Firebase's standard
diagnostic retention windows.
4. How in-app deletion works
The "Delete account" button on the Account screen deletes your Firestore
data first, then your Firebase Authentication account itself - in that order, since account
data can only be removed while the account still exists. Deletion is permanent and cannot be
undone. Afterward the app returns you to the sign-in screen; nothing is recoverable, including
if you sign back in with the same email later (that creates a brand-new, empty account).
