Pablo's family plans a big holiday dinner soon. His grandmother wants to make her old stew. His mother wants to try a new dish.
पाब्लो का परिवार जल्द ही एक बड़े त्योहार के खाने की योजना बना रहा है। उसकी दादी अपना पुराना स्ट्यू बनाना चाहती हैं। उसकी माँ एक नया व्यंजन आज़माना चाहती हैं।
They ask Pablo to help decide. "Which one do you like more?" his mother asks. Pablo does not want to upset anyone.
वे पाब्लो से फ़ैसला करने में मदद माँगती हैं। "तुम्हें कौन-सा ज़्यादा पसंद है?" उसकी माँ पूछती हैं। पाब्लो किसी को नाराज़ नहीं करना चाहता।
He walks between the kitchen and the stove. Both smells fill the whole house. He cannot pick a favorite by smell alone.
वह रसोई और चूल्हे के बीच चक्कर लगाता है। दोनों की ख़ुशबू पूरे घर में भर जाती है। वह सिर्फ़ ख़ुशबू से अपना पसंदीदा नहीं चुन पाता।
He tastes his grandmother's stew first. It reminds him of every holiday before. Warm and familiar, just like always.
वह पहले अपनी दादी का स्ट्यू चखता है। उसे पिछले हर त्योहार की याद आ जाती है। गरम और जाना-पहचाना, बिल्कुल हमेशा जैसा।
He tastes his mother's new dish next. The new dish tastes bright and different. Pablo thinks about both dishes carefully.
फिर वह अपनी माँ का नया व्यंजन चखता है। नया व्यंजन ताज़गी भरा और अलग लगता है। पाब्लो दोनों व्यंजनों के बारे में ध्यान से सोचता है।
He does not want to choose just one. Both dishes deserve a place at the table. An idea slowly forms in his mind.
वह सिर्फ़ एक को नहीं चुनना चाहता। दोनों व्यंजन मेज़ पर जगह के हक़दार हैं। उसके मन में धीरे-धीरे एक विचार बनता है।
"Why not make both dishes this year?" Pablo asks. His grandmother and mother look at each other. They both smile and agree happily.
"इस साल दोनों व्यंजन क्यों न बनाएँ?" पाब्लो पूछता है। उसकी दादी और माँ एक-दूसरे को देखती हैं। दोनों मुस्कुराती हैं और ख़ुशी से मान जाती हैं।
On the holiday, the table has both dishes. Family members try the old stew first. Then they try the new dish too.
त्योहार के दिन मेज़ पर दोनों व्यंजन हैं। परिवार के लोग पहले पुराना स्ट्यू चखते हैं। फिर वे नया व्यंजन भी चखते हैं।
Everyone loves having two different choices. Pablo's grandmother asks for the new recipe. Pablo feels proud of his simple idea.
सबको दो अलग-अलग विकल्प होना बहुत पसंद आता है। पाब्लो की दादी नई रेसिपी माँगती हैं। पाब्लो को अपने सीधे-सादे विचार पर गर्व होता है।
