Two Recipes for the Holiday

Pablo must help his grandmother and mother choose between two holiday dishes.
Pablo's family plans a big holiday dinner soon. His grandmother wants to make her old stew. His mother wants to try a new dish.
They ask Pablo to help decide. "Which one do you like more?" his mother asks. Pablo does not want to upset anyone.
He walks between the kitchen and the stove. Both smells fill the whole house. He cannot pick a favorite by smell alone.
He tastes his grandmother's stew first. It reminds him of every holiday before. Warm and familiar, just like always.
He tastes his mother's new dish next. The new dish tastes bright and different. Pablo thinks about both dishes carefully.
He does not want to choose just one. Both dishes deserve a place at the table. An idea slowly forms in his mind.
"Why not make both dishes this year?" Pablo asks. His grandmother and mother look at each other. They both smile and agree happily.
On the holiday, the table has both dishes. Family members try the old stew first. Then they try the new dish too.
Everyone loves having two different choices. Pablo's grandmother asks for the new recipe. Pablo feels proud of his simple idea.
