Bilal sits backstage with his guitar. The school concert starts in ten minutes. He is ready.
बिलाल अपने गिटार के साथ मंच के पीछे बैठा है। स्कूल का कॉन्सर्ट दस मिनट में शुरू होने वाला है। वह तैयार है।
He plays one last song. Then a string breaks with a loud sound. It hangs from the neck of the guitar.
वह आख़िरी बार एक गाना बजाता है। तभी एक तार तेज़ आवाज़ के साथ टूट जाता है। वह गिटार की गर्दन से लटक जाता है।
His face goes white. "Oh no," he says.
उसका चेहरा सफ़ेद पड़ जाता है। "अरे नहीं," वह कहता है।
He runs to the music teacher. "I need a new string!" he says.
वह दौड़कर म्यूज़िक टीचर के पास जाता है। "मुझे एक नया तार चाहिए!" वह कहता है।
The teacher looks in her box. "I have no strings," she says. "I am so sorry."
टीचर अपने डिब्बे में देखती हैं। "मेरे पास तार नहीं हैं," वे कहती हैं। "मुझे बहुत अफ़सोस है।"
Bilal sits on a chair. His hands shake. He thinks about going home.
बिलाल एक कुर्सी पर बैठ जाता है। उसके हाथ काँप रहे हैं। वह घर लौट जाने के बारे में सोचता है।
An older girl sits next to him. Her name is Lotte. She plays in the school band.
एक बड़ी लड़की उसके पास आकर बैठती है। उसका नाम लोटे है। वह स्कूल के बैंड में बजाती है।
"What is wrong?" she asks.
"क्या हुआ?" वह पूछती है।
"My string broke," he says. "I cannot play."
"मेरा तार टूट गया," वह कहता है। "मैं नहीं बजा सकता।"
Lotte looks at his guitar. Then she points at a black case. "Use my guitar," she says.
लोटे उसके गिटार को देखती है। फिर वह एक काले केस की ओर इशारा करती है। "मेरा गिटार ले लो," वह कहती है।
"Are you sure?" Bilal asks.
"क्या आप पक्का कह रही हैं?" बिलाल पूछता है।
"Yes. Go and play well."
"हाँ। जाओ और अच्छा बजाना।"
Bilal takes the guitar. It feels a little different, but it is nice. The teacher calls his name.
बिलाल गिटार ले लेता है। वह थोड़ा अलग लगता है, पर अच्छा है। टीचर उसका नाम पुकारती हैं।
He walks onto the stage. The lights are bright. He sits down and plays the first note. It sounds clear and warm.
