Ximena and Dexter share a project for their history class. They split the work at the start. Ximena takes the research part.
ख़िमेना और डेक्सटर अपनी इतिहास की क्लास के लिए एक प्रोजेक्ट साथ कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने शुरू में ही काम बाँट लिया है। ख़िमेना रिसर्च वाला हिस्सा लेती है।
Dexter takes the writing part. The deadline is two weeks away. They agree to meet once a week.
डेक्सटर लिखने वाला हिस्सा लेता है। डेडलाइन दो हफ़्ते दूर है। वे हफ़्ते में एक बार मिलने के लिए राज़ी हो जाते हैं।
Ximena finishes her research early. She starts helping with the writing too. She reads every chapter alone.
ख़िमेना अपनी रिसर्च जल्दी ख़त्म कर लेती है। वह लिखने में भी मदद करने लगती है। वह हर अध्याय अकेले पढ़ती है।
She types most of the final paper herself. Dexter sends a few short paragraphs each week. He seems busy with other classes.
वह ज़्यादातर फ़ाइनल पेपर ख़ुद ही टाइप करती है। डेक्सटर हर हफ़्ते कुछ छोटे-छोटे पैराग्राफ़ भेज देता है। लगता है वह अपनी दूसरी क्लासों में व्यस्त है।
The night before the deadline, Ximena checks her hours. She spends twelve hours on the whole project. Dexter spends about three hours.
डेडलाइन से पहली रात ख़िमेना अपने घंटे गिनती है। उसने पूरे प्रोजेक्ट पर बारह घंटे लगाए हैं। डेक्सटर ने लगभग तीन घंटे।
She feels frustrated, but she does not want to fight. She decides to talk to him calmly.
उसे झुँझलाहट होती है, पर वह झगड़ना नहीं चाहती। वह उससे शांति से बात करने का फ़ैसला करती है।
"I did almost all the work this time," Ximena says. "Can we talk about the next project?"
"इस बार मैंने लगभग सारा काम किया है," ख़िमेना कहती है। "क्या हम अगले प्रोजेक्ट के बारे में बात कर सकते हैं?"
Dexter looks a little embarrassed. "You're right," he says. "I didn't do enough. I'm sorry."
डेक्सटर थोड़ा शर्मिंदा दिखता है। "तुम सही कह रही हो," वह कहता है। "मैंने काफ़ी काम नहीं किया। मुझे माफ़ करना।"
"Let's split hours evenly next time," Ximena says. "We can check in twice a week."

Dexter agrees and writes it down. They both sign up for a new project together.
