Two Bags for the Mountain Trip

With a small car trunk, siblings Gwen and Elio must decide what to pack for a cold mountain camping trip.

Gwen and Elio pack the car for a road trip. They plan to drive up into the mountains. The car trunk is small this time.
Gwen e Elio arrumam o carro para uma viagem de carro. Eles planejam dirigir até as montanhas. O porta-malas do carro está pequeno dessa vez.
"We can't fit everything," Gwen says. She holds up two bags on the ground. One bag has warm coats and gloves. The other bag has the tent and sleeping mats.
"A gente não vai conseguir levar tudo", Gwen diz. Ela ergue duas malas do chão. Uma mala tem casacos quentes e luvas. A outra mala tem a barraca e os colchonetes.
"We already have coats in our backpacks," Elio says. "We need the tent bag up there," he says.
"A gente já tem casacos nas mochilas", Elio diz. "Precisamos da mala da barraca lá em cima", ele diz.
Gwen thinks about the cold mountain nights. "But the mountains get very cold at night," she says.
Gwen pensa nas noites frias da montanha. "Mas as montanhas ficam muito frias à noite", ela diz.
"Let's just take both, and skip the cooler," Elio says.
"Vamos levar as duas e deixar o isopor", Elio diz.
They squeeze both bags into the trunk together. The cooler stays behind in the garage. Gwen closes the trunk and checks the lock.
Eles enfiam as duas malas juntas no porta-malas. O isopor fica para trás, na garagem. Gwen fecha o porta-malas e confere a trava.
They drive out of the city and onto the highway. Tall trees stand along the road. Mountains rise ahead under a clear blue sky.
Eles saem da cidade e entram na rodovia. Árvores altas ficam ao longo da estrada. As montanhas se erguem à frente sob um céu azul e limpo.
Elio turns on the radio and hums along. Gwen watches the valley disappear behind them.
Elio liga o rádio e cantarola junto. Gwen observa o vale desaparecer atrás deles.
By afternoon, snow appears on the mountain tops. They stop the car near a small cabin.
No fim da tarde, neve aparece nos topos das montanhas. Eles param o carro perto de uma pequena cabana.
Gwen zips up her warm coat right away. "Good thing we packed the coats," she says.
Gwen fecha o zíper do casaco quente na hora. "Ainda bem que trouxemos os casacos", ela diz.
They carry the tent bag down to the campsite.
Eles carregam a mala da barraca até o acampamento.
