Capa de The Photo on the Ferry

The ferry left the town early in the morning. Dunja stood at the front with a cup of tea. The sea was bright, and the wind was cold. She wanted a photo of this moment.

O mar estava brilhante, e o vento estava frio. Ela queria uma foto desse momento.

A tall man stood next to her. He had a small blue bag. She asked, "Excuse me, can you take my photo, please?"

"Of course," he said. He took her phone and stepped back. He held it up. "One, two, three!"

Ergueu o aparelho. "Um, dois, três!"

Dunja smiled her best smile. Then she looked at the picture. It showed the sea, the sky, and her feet. Her head was not in it.

Dunja deu o seu melhor sorriso. Depois olhou a imagem. Ela mostrava o mar, o céu e os pés dela. A cabeça não aparecia.

"Oh no," the man said. His face went red. "I am so sorry. I am not good with phones."

"Ai, não", disse o homem. Seu rosto ficou vermelho. "Sinto muito. Eu não sou bom com celulares."

Dunja started to laugh, and soon he laughed too. They laughed so much that a woman nearby looked at them.

"Let me try again," he said. He took ten more photos. In one, she had her eyes closed. In another, a bird sat on her shoulder. In the last one, she was perfect.

"Deixe-me tentar de novo", disse ele.

"This is the best one," she said. "Thank you. My name is Dunja."

"Esta é a melhor", disse ela. "Obrigada. Meu nome é Dunja."

"I am Pedro," he said.

"Eu sou o Pedro", disse ele.

They sat on a bench and drank their tea. They talked about his work, her town, and their favorite food. The time went fast. Then the ferry horn sounded, and the island came near.

"Do you know the way to the old town?" Pedro asked.

"Você sabe o caminho para a cidade antiga?", perguntou Pedro.

"No," Dunja said, "but we can find it together."

"Não", disse Dunja, "mas podemos encontrá-lo juntos."
