Tamsin arrived at the dock ten minutes before the ferry. A worker stood at the ramp with a clipboard.
Tamsin chegou ao píer dez minutos antes da balsa. Um funcionário estava na rampa com uma prancheta.
"Sorry, this ferry is full," he said. "The next one leaves in two hours," he added.
"Desculpe, esta balsa está cheia", ele disse. "A próxima sai em duas horas", ele acrescentou.
Tamsin looked out at the small island across the water. Two hours felt like a long time to wait.
Tamsin olhou para a pequena ilha do outro lado da água. Duas horas pareciam muito tempo para esperar.
She walked along the dock and looked at the boats. A small motorboat sat near the end of the dock. A sign on it read "Water Taxi, Ask Inside."
Ela caminhou pelo píer e olhou para os barcos. Um pequeno barco a motor estava parado perto do fim do píer. Uma placa nele dizia "Táxi Aquático, Pergunte Lá Dentro."
Tamsin walked into the little office next to the sign. "Can you take me to the island?" she asked.
Tamsin entrou no pequeno escritório ao lado da placa. "Você pode me levar até a ilha?", ela perguntou.
"Sure, it takes fifteen minutes," the driver said.
"Claro, leva quinze minutos", disse o motorista.
Tamsin paid for a ticket and stepped onto the boat. The small boat sped across the water fast.
Tamsin pagou pela passagem e subiu no barco. O pequeno barco disparou pela água rapidamente.
Waves splashed up over the sides now and then. Tamsin held her bag close and laughed at the spray.
Ondas espirravam pelas laterais de vez em quando. Tamsin segurou a bolsa perto do corpo e riu do respingo.
The boat reached the island well before the ferry. She stepped onto the dock and looked at the sea. The ferry was still just a dot near the mainland.
O barco chegou à ilha bem antes da balsa. Ela desceu no píer e olhou para o mar. A balsa ainda era só um pontinho perto do continente.
