Zara joined the soccer team two years ago. Now she knows all the drills and rules. Today, a new boy comes to practice. He stands alone near the fence.
Zara se unió al equipo de fútbol hace dos años. Ahora conoce todos los ejercicios y las reglas. Hoy, un chico nuevo llega a la práctica. Se queda solo cerca de la cerca.
The coach calls the team together. "This is Umar," she says. "He's new here."
La entrenadora reúne al equipo. «Este es Umar», dice. «Es nuevo aquí».
Umar looks nervous. He doesn't know anyone on the team.
Umar se ve nervioso. No conoce a nadie del equipo.
Zara walks over and stands next to him.
Zara se acerca y se para junto a él.
"Hi, I'm Zara," she says. "Do you know the rules of this game?"
«Hola, soy Zara», dice. «¿Conoces las reglas de este juego?»
"Not really," Umar says. "I'm new to soccer."
«No mucho», dice Umar. «Soy nuevo en el fútbol».
"That's okay," Zara says. "I can explain them to you."
«Está bien», dice Zara. «Te las puedo explicar».
She explains the basic rules step by step. Umar listens carefully and nods.
Le explica las reglas básicas paso a paso. Umar escucha con atención y asiente.
"When the ball goes out, we stop and restart here," Zara says.
«Cuando el balón sale, paramos y volvemos a empezar aquí», dice Zara.
"What about this line?" Umar asks. "What does it mean?"
«¿Y esta línea?», pregunta Umar. «¿Qué significa?»
"That line marks the edge of the field," Zara says.
«Esa línea marca el borde de la cancha», dice Zara.
The coach blows the whistle. "Everyone, take your positions!" she calls.
La entrenadora hace sonar el silbato. «¡Todos, tomen sus posiciones!», grita.
Zara points to a spot near Umar. "Stand here with me," she says. "I'll help you during the game."
Zara señala un lugar cerca de Umar. «Quédate aquí conmigo», dice. «Te voy a ayudar durante el juego».
They start the practice game together. Umar makes a good pass early on.

"Nice pass!" Zara shouts. "You're a fast learner."

Umar smiles and keeps running down the field.
