The Driving Test She Almost Missed

Inaya has a driving test at nine o'clock this morning. She practiced parking and turns all week with her father. She plans to take the bus to the testing center. She leaves her house early, just in case.

Inaya tiene un examen de manejo a las nueve de esta mañana. Practicó estacionar y dar vueltas toda la semana con su padre. Planea tomar el autobús al centro de exámenes. Sale de su casa temprano, por si acaso.

At the bus stop, a sign says the bus is delayed. Inaya checks her watch. She only has thirty minutes left.

En la parada del autobús, un letrero dice que el autobús está retrasado. Inaya mira su reloj. Solo le quedan treinta minutos.

She thinks about her two options. She can wait for the late bus. Or she can ride her neighbor's bike instead. Her neighbor Aziz always tells her to use it anytime.

Inaya decides quickly. She runs back home and gets the bike from Aziz's yard. She pedals hard down the main street toward the testing center.

Ten minutes later, she reaches the building. She is tired but on time.

She parks the bike outside and walks in. The instructor calls her name at exactly nine o'clock. Inaya takes a deep breath and walks toward the car.
