The Doorbell That Forgot to Update

Gustavo installs a smart doorbell on his front door. It can recognize faces and say names through his phone. He sets it up in a hurry before work.

Gustavo instala un timbre inteligente en la puerta principal de su casa. El timbre puede reconocer caras y decir nombres a través de su teléfono. Lo instala con prisa antes de ir al trabajo.

Every afternoon, the doorbell says the same thing. "Sarah is at the door," it announces. But Gustavo's mail carrier is not Sarah. Her name is Uma.

Todas las tardes, el timbre dice lo mismo. «Sarah está en la puerta», anuncia. Pero la cartera de Gustavo no se llama Sarah. Se llama Uma.

At first, Gustavo laughs about the mistake. He remembers now: his cousin Sarah lived in this house before him. The doorbell still uses her old photo.

Al principio, Gustavo se ríe del error. Ahora recuerda: su prima Sarah vivió en esta casa antes que él. El timbre todavía usa su foto antigua.

One evening, Uma knocks and waits outside. "Sorry about the doorbell," Gustavo says as he opens the door. "It still thinks you're my cousin."

Una tarde, Uma toca la puerta y espera afuera. «Perdona por el timbre», dice Gustavo al abrir la puerta. «Todavía cree que eres mi prima».

"That's a new one," Uma says. "No one ever calls me Sarah," she says with a laugh.

Gustavo opens the doorbell app that night. He finds Sarah's old photo saved inside. He deletes it and adds a new photo of Uma instead.

Esa noche, Gustavo abre la aplicación del timbre. Encuentra la foto antigua de Sarah guardada dentro. La borra y agrega una foto nueva de Uma.

The next afternoon, the doorbell rings again. "Uma is at the door," it announces this time. Gustavo smiles and opens the door.
