The Wrong Song at the Wedding

Niamh went to her cousin Yolanda's wedding with her whole family. The reception was in a big tent behind the farmhouse.

Niamh foi ao casamento da sua prima Yolanda com toda a família. A recepção era numa grande tenda atrás da fazenda.

Niamh helped set up the sound system before the party started. She knew a lot about music apps from her own school events.

Niamh ajudou a montar o sistema de som antes da festa começar. Ela entendia bastante de aplicativos de música por causa dos eventos da sua própria escola.

At dinner, the DJ announced the first dance. He pressed play on his laptop, but the wrong song started.

Durante o jantar, o DJ anunciou a primeira dança. Ele apertou o play no laptop, mas a música errada começou a tocar.

It was fast dance music. It was not the song Yolanda and Amadi chose. Guests looked at each other, confused.

Era uma música de dança agitada. Não era a música que Yolanda e Amadi tinham escolhido. Os convidados se entreolharam, confusos.

"That's not it," the DJ said quietly, searching through his playlist. "I don't understand. It was right here."

"Não é essa", o DJ disse baixinho, procurando na playlist. "Não entendo. Estava bem aqui."

Yolanda and her new husband, Amadi, stood frozen on the dance floor. Everyone waited with their phones ready for photos.

Yolanda e o marido recém-casado, Amadi, ficaram congelados na pista de dança. Todo mundo esperava com os celulares prontos para fotos.

Niamh walked up to the DJ table. "Can I take a look?" she asked.

Niamh se aproximou da mesa do DJ. "Posso dar uma olhada?", ela perguntou.

The DJ nodded and stepped aside. Niamh scanned the playlist. She found two songs with almost the same name.

O DJ balançou a cabeça e deu um passo para o lado. Niamh examinou a playlist. Ela encontrou duas músicas com nomes quase idênticos.

"Here's the problem," she said. "This one is labeled wrong. The real song is right below it."

"Aqui está o problema", ela disse. "Esta está marcada errada. A música certa está logo abaixo dela."

She also found the couple's song on her own phone. The DJ pressed play on the correct track this time.

Ela também encontrou a música do casal no próprio celular. O DJ apertou o play na faixa correta dessa vez.

The right song started, soft and slow. Yolanda and Amadi began to dance together. The crowd cheered, and nobody seemed to remember the mix-up at all.

A música certa começou, suave e lenta. Yolanda e Amadi começaram a dançar juntos. A multidão aplaudiu, e ninguém pareceu se lembrar da confusão.

"Thank you so much," the DJ whispered to Niamh. "You saved this whole moment."

"Muito obrigado", o DJ sussurrou para Niamh. "Você salvou esse momento todo."

Niamh smiled and stepped back into the crowd. She watched her cousin dance under the string lights. Her phone was still warm in her hand.

Niamh sorriu e voltou para o meio da multidão. Ela observou a prima dançando sob as luzes de fio. O celular ainda estava quente na mão dela.
