Marta boards the night train with a small green suitcase. She finds her cabin and opens the door. A man already sits on the bottom bunk.
Marta embarca no trem noturno com uma pequena mala verde. Ela encontra sua cabine e abre a porta. Um homem já está sentado no beliche de baixo.
"Excuse me, this is my bunk," Marta says.
"Com licença, este é o meu beliche", diz Marta.
"No, I think it's mine," the man says. His name is Nikolai.
"Não, acho que é o meu", diz o homem. O nome dele é Nikolai.
They both check their tickets side by side. Marta has bunk four. Nikolai has bunk four too.
Os dois conferem as passagens lado a lado. Marta tem o beliche quatro. Nikolai também tem o beliche quatro.
"Two tickets, one bunk," Nikolai says with a laugh.
"Duas passagens, um beliche", diz Nikolai, rindo.
Marta finds a worker in the hall. The worker looks at both tickets. "The system made a mistake today," she says. "There is an empty bunk in the next cabin."
Marta encontra uma funcionária no corredor. A funcionária olha as duas passagens. "O sistema cometeu um erro hoje", ela diz. "Há um beliche vazio na cabine ao lado."
Nikolai picks up his bag and thanks her.
Nikolai pega sua mala e agradece a ela.
"Wait," Marta says. "You can stay." "I don't mind the top bunk."
"Espere", diz Marta. "Você pode ficar." "Não me importo com o beliche de cima."
Nikolai smiles and puts his bag down again. They talk about their trips over tea from the cart.
Nikolai sorri e põe a mala no chão de novo. Eles conversam sobre suas viagens tomando chá do carrinho.
Marta travels to see her sister. Nikolai travels to a work meeting in the north.
Marta viaja para ver a irmã. Nikolai viaja para uma reunião de trabalho no norte.
The train rushes through dark fields outside the window. Marta climbs to the top bunk near midnight.
O trem avança pelos campos escuros do lado de fora da janela. Marta sobe para o beliche de cima perto da meia-noite.
"Goodnight," she says. "Two tickets, one bunk, one good trip." Nikolai laughs. "Goodnight, roommate," he says.
"Boa noite", ela diz. "Duas passagens, um beliche, uma boa viagem." Nikolai ri. "Boa noite, companheiro de cabine", ele diz.
