Kate keeps her garden tools in a small shed. Every Saturday, she waters her flowers. Today, her small garden shovel is gone.
Kate guarda suas ferramentas de jardim em um pequeno galpão. Todo sábado, ela rega suas flores. Hoje, sua pequena pá de jardim sumiu.
She looks on the shelf. She looks under the bench. She looks behind some old flower pots. The shovel is not there.
Ela olha na prateleira. Ela olha embaixo do banco. Ela olha atrás de alguns vasos de flores velhos. A pá não está lá.
Kate thinks someone took it from her yard. She feels a little upset about it. Her flowers really need fresh soil today.
Kate acha que alguém pegou a pá do seu quintal. Ela fica um pouco chateada com isso. Suas flores realmente precisam de terra fresca hoje.
She walks over to her neighbor's house. "Did you see my garden shovel?" Kate asks. Her neighbor shakes his head slowly. "No, but my dog loves to dig," he says.
Ela vai até a casa do vizinho. "Você viu minha pá de jardim?", pergunta Kate. O vizinho balança a cabeça devagar. "Não, mas meu cachorro adora cavar", ele diz.
They walk to the neighbor's yard together. The dog runs happily around the grass. Near a rose bush, they see fresh dirt.
Eles caminham juntos até o quintal do vizinho. O cachorro corre feliz pela grama. Perto de uma roseira, eles veem terra remexida.
Kate digs a little with her hands. She feels something hard under the soil. There is her shovel, deep in the dirt.
Kate cava um pouco com as mãos. Ela sente algo duro embaixo da terra. Lá está a pá dela, bem no fundo da terra.
The neighbor's dog sits nearby and wags its tail. Kate laughs and picks up the shovel. "I think he borrowed it," Kate says.
O cachorro do vizinho senta por perto e abana o rabo. Kate ri e pega a pá. "Acho que ele pegou emprestado", diz Kate.
The neighbor laughs too and shakes his head. "Sorry about that," he says kindly. "I'll watch him more closely next time."
O vizinho também ri e balança a cabeça. "Desculpa por isso", ele diz gentilmente. "Vou ficar de olho nele da próxima vez."
Kate cleans the shovel with some water. She walks home and waters her flowers. She smiles and puts the shovel away.
Kate limpa a pá com um pouco de água. Ela volta para casa e rega suas flores. Ela sorri e guarda a pá.
