The Missing Garden Shovel

Kate keeps her garden tools in a small shed. Every Saturday, she waters her flowers. Today, her small garden shovel is gone.

Kate guarda sus herramientas de jardín en un cobertizo pequeño. Cada sábado, riega sus flores. Hoy, su pequeña pala de jardín ha desaparecido.

She looks on the shelf. She looks under the bench. She looks behind some old flower pots. The shovel is not there.

Mira en el estante. Mira debajo del banco. Mira detrás de unas macetas viejas. La pala no está allí.

Kate thinks someone took it from her yard. She feels a little upset about it. Her flowers really need fresh soil today.

Kate piensa que alguien la sacó de su patio. Se siente un poco molesta por eso. Sus flores realmente necesitan tierra fresca hoy.

She walks over to her neighbor's house. "Did you see my garden shovel?" Kate asks. Her neighbor shakes his head slowly. "No, but my dog loves to dig," he says.

Camina hasta la casa de su vecino. «¿Viste mi pala de jardín?», pregunta Kate. Su vecino niega con la cabeza lentamente. «No, pero a mi perro le encanta cavar», dice él.

They walk to the neighbor's yard together. The dog runs happily around the grass. Near a rose bush, they see fresh dirt.

Caminan juntos hasta el patio del vecino. El perro corre feliz por el pasto. Cerca de un rosal, ven tierra recién removida.

Kate digs a little with her hands. She feels something hard under the soil. There is her shovel, deep in the dirt.

Kate cava un poco con las manos. Siente algo duro bajo la tierra. Ahí está su pala, enterrada en el suelo.

The neighbor's dog sits nearby and wags its tail. Kate laughs and picks up the shovel. "I think he borrowed it," Kate says.

El perro del vecino se sienta cerca y mueve la cola. Kate se ríe y recoge la pala. «Creo que la tomó prestada», dice Kate.

The neighbor laughs too and shakes his head. "Sorry about that," he says kindly. "I'll watch him more closely next time."

El vecino también se ríe y sacude la cabeza. «Perdón por eso», dice amablemente. «La próxima vez lo vigilaré más de cerca».

Kate cleans the shovel with some water. She walks home and waters her flowers. She smiles and puts the shovel away.

Kate limpia la pala con un poco de agua. Camina a casa y riega sus flores. Sonríe y guarda la pala.
