Kate keeps her garden tools in a small shed. Every Saturday, she waters her flowers. Today, her small garden shovel is gone.
केट अपने बाग़ के औज़ार एक छोटे से शेड में रखती है। हर शनिवार वह अपने फूलों को पानी देती है। आज उसका छोटा-सा बाग़ वाला फावड़ा गायब है।
She looks on the shelf. She looks under the bench. She looks behind some old flower pots. The shovel is not there.
वह शेल्फ़ पर देखती है। वह बेंच के नीचे देखती है। वह पुराने गमलों के पीछे देखती है। फावड़ा वहाँ नहीं है।
Kate thinks someone took it from her yard. She feels a little upset about it. Her flowers really need fresh soil today.
केट को लगता है कि किसी ने उसे उसके आँगन से उठा लिया है। उसे थोड़ा बुरा लगता है। उसके फूलों को आज सच में ताज़ा मिट्टी चाहिए।
She walks over to her neighbor's house. "Did you see my garden shovel?" Kate asks. Her neighbor shakes his head slowly. "No, but my dog loves to dig," he says.
वह अपने पड़ोसी के घर जाती है। "क्या आपने मेरा बाग़ वाला फावड़ा देखा?" केट पूछती है। उसका पड़ोसी धीरे से सिर हिलाता है। "नहीं, लेकिन मेरे कुत्ते को खोदना बहुत पसंद है," वह कहता है।
They walk to the neighbor's yard together. The dog runs happily around the grass. Near a rose bush, they see fresh dirt.
वे दोनों साथ में पड़ोसी के आँगन में जाते हैं। कुत्ता घास पर खुशी से दौड़ रहा है। गुलाब की झाड़ी के पास उन्हें ताज़ा मिट्टी दिखती है।
Kate digs a little with her hands. She feels something hard under the soil. There is her shovel, deep in the dirt.
केट हाथों से थोड़ी मिट्टी खोदती है। उसे मिट्टी के नीचे कुछ सख़्त चीज़ महसूस होती है। वहाँ उसका फावड़ा है, मिट्टी में गहरे दबा हुआ।
The neighbor's dog sits nearby and wags its tail. Kate laughs and picks up the shovel. "I think he borrowed it," Kate says.
पड़ोसी का कुत्ता पास में बैठा है और पूँछ हिला रहा है। केट हँसती है और फावड़ा उठा लेती है। "लगता है इसने इसे उधार ले लिया था," केट कहती है।
The neighbor laughs too and shakes his head. "Sorry about that," he says kindly. "I'll watch him more closely next time."
पड़ोसी भी हँसता है और सिर हिलाता है। "इसके लिए माफ़ कीजिए," वह प्यार से कहता है। "अगली बार मैं इस पर ज़्यादा नज़र रखूँगा।"
Kate cleans the shovel with some water. She walks home and waters her flowers. She smiles and puts the shovel away.
केट फावड़े को थोड़े पानी से साफ़ करती है। वह घर लौटती है और अपने फूलों को पानी देती है। वह मुस्कुराती है और फावड़ा वापस रख देती है।
