Sena, Idris, and two friends hike along a forest trail on Sunday. The trail leads to an old wooden footbridge over a stream.
सेना, इदरिस और दो दोस्त रविवार को जंगल की एक पगडंडी पर पैदल चल रहे हैं। पगडंडी एक नाले के ऊपर बने पुराने लकड़ी के पैदल पुल तक जाती है।
The bridge is narrow and a little old. Some of the wood boards look weak.
पुल संकरा है और थोड़ा पुराना है। लकड़ी के कुछ तख़्ते कमज़ोर दिखते हैं।
Idris stops at the edge of the bridge. He doesn't move.
इदरिस पुल के किनारे पर रुक जाता है। वह हिलता नहीं।
"I don't like this," Idris says quietly. "The boards look weak."
"मुझे यह पसंद नहीं आ रहा," इदरिस धीरे से कहता है। "तख़्ते कमज़ोर लग रहे हैं।"
The other two friends cross first and wait on the other side. Sena stays back with Idris.
बाक़ी दोनों दोस्त पहले पार करते हैं और दूसरी तरफ़ इंतज़ार करते हैं। सेना इदरिस के साथ पीछे ही रुकी रहती है।
"Look at me," Sena says. "I'll go first, slowly. You watch my feet."
"मेरी तरफ़ देखो," सेना कहती है। "मैं पहले जाऊँगी, धीरे-धीरे। तुम मेरे पैरों को देखते रहना।"
Sena steps onto the bridge carefully. The wood creaks but holds. She stops in the middle and turns around.
सेना सावधानी से पुल पर क़दम रखती है। लकड़ी चरमराती है, पर टिकी रहती है। वह बीच में रुकती है और पीछे मुड़ती है।
"See? It's fine," she says. "Just step where I stepped."
"देखा? सब ठीक है," वह कहती है। "बस वहीं पैर रखना जहाँ मैंने रखा था।"
Idris takes a deep breath and puts one foot on the bridge. He follows Sena's path, step by step.
इदरिस गहरी साँस लेता है और पुल पर एक पैर रखता है। वह सेना के रास्ते पर, एक-एक क़दम करके, उसके पीछे चलता है।
Halfway across, he stops and looks down at the water. "Don't look down," Sena says. "Look at me."
आधे रास्ते में वह रुक जाता है और नीचे पानी की ओर देखता है। "नीचे मत देखो," सेना कहती है। "मेरी तरफ़ देखो।"
Idris looks up and keeps walking. A minute later, he reaches the other side.
इदरिस ऊपर देखता है और चलता रहता है। एक मिनट बाद वह दूसरी तरफ़ पहुँच जाता है।
"You did it," Sena says. She smiles. "That wasn't so hard."
"तुमने कर दिखाया," सेना कहती है। वह मुस्कुराती है। "इतना मुश्किल तो नहीं था।"
"It was a little hard," Idris says. "But thank you for staying with me."
"थोड़ा मुश्किल तो था," इदरिस कहता है। "लेकिन मेरे साथ रुकने के लिए शुक्रिया।"
