Marek and Luz drove to the campsite on Friday evening. They wanted to set up before dark. Marek opened the car trunk and pulled out the tent bag.
मारेक और लूज़ शुक्रवार की शाम कैंपसाइट पहुँचे। वे अँधेरा होने से पहले सब लगा लेना चाहते थे। मारेक ने गाड़ी की डिक्की खोली और तंबू का थैला बाहर निकाला।
"Where are the poles?" he asked. He searched the bag twice. He found only the tent cloth and the stakes.
"डंडे कहाँ हैं?" उसने पूछा। उसने थैला दो बार खँगाला। उसे सिर्फ़ तंबू का कपड़ा और खूँटियाँ मिलीं।
"We packed them at home," Luz said. "I remember putting them by the door."
"हमने उन्हें घर पर पैक किया था," लूज़ ने कहा। "मुझे याद है, मैंने उन्हें दरवाज़े के पास रखा था।"
"They're still by the door," Marek said. "We left them at home."
"वे अब भी दरवाज़े के पास ही हैं," मारेक ने कहा। "हम उन्हें घर पर छोड़ आए।"
The sky grew dark, and the campsite had no store nearby. Luz looked around and had an idea.
आसमान में अँधेरा छाने लगा और कैंपसाइट के पास कोई दुकान नहीं थी। लूज़ ने चारों ओर देखा और उसे एक उपाय सूझा।
"We can use branches instead," she said. "Strong ones, from that tree over there."
"हम इनकी जगह डालियाँ इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं," उसने कहा। "वहाँ उस पेड़ से मज़बूत डालियाँ।"
Marek smiled and grabbed his small saw from the car. He cut four straight branches. Then he trimmed the small sticks off each one.
मारेक मुस्कुराया और गाड़ी से अपनी छोटी आरी उठा लाया। उसने चार सीधी डालियाँ काटीं। फिर उसने हर एक की छोटी टहनियाँ छाँट दीं।
Luz held the tent cloth. Marek pushed the branches through the fabric loops. It took a long time, but the branches fit well.
लूज़ ने तंबू का कपड़ा पकड़ा। मारेक ने डालियाँ कपड़े के छल्लों में से पिरो दीं। इसमें काफ़ी समय लगा, पर डालियाँ अच्छी तरह बैठ गईं।
They tied the corners with rope from the car. Then they pulled the tent tight. It stood a little crooked, but it held.
उन्होंने गाड़ी में रखी रस्सी से कोने बाँध दिए। फिर उन्होंने तंबू को कसकर खींचा। वह थोड़ा तिरछा खड़ा था, पर टिक गया।
"It's not perfect," Marek said, "but it's ours tonight."
"यह बिल्कुल सही नहीं है," मारेक ने कहा, "पर आज रात के लिए यह हमारा है।"
Luz laughed and crawled inside first. "It even smells like pine," she said.
लूज़ हँसी और सबसे पहले अंदर रेंगकर चली गई। "इसमें से तो चीड़ की महक भी आ रही है," उसने कहा।
They lit a small lamp and listened to the wind outside. The tent held through the night without a problem.
उन्होंने एक छोटा लैंप जलाया और बाहर हवा की आवाज़ सुनते रहे। तंबू पूरी रात बिना किसी परेशानी के टिका रहा।
