Vera visits the animal shelter to adopt one kitten. She wants just one, but two kittens catch her eye.
वेरा एक बिल्ली का बच्चा गोद लेने के लिए पशु आश्रय में आती है। वह बस एक ही चाहती है, लेकिन दो बच्चे उसकी नज़र में बस जाते हैं।
The first kitten is orange and sleeps in a small ball. The second kitten is gray and climbs the cage bars.
पहला बच्चा नारंगी रंग का है और एक छोटी गेंद की तरह सिमटकर सोता है। दूसरा बच्चा सलेटी रंग का है और पिंजरे की सलाखों पर चढ़ता रहता है।
"I can't decide," Vera tells the shelter worker, Amir. "They're both so cute."
"मैं तय नहीं कर पा रही," वेरा आश्रय के कर्मचारी अमीर से कहती है। "दोनों कितने प्यारे हैं।"
"Take your time," Amir says. "Sit with both of them for a while."
"आराम से सोचिए," अमीर कहता है। "कुछ देर दोनों के साथ बैठकर देखिए।"
Vera sits on the floor. The orange kitten climbs into her lap and falls asleep right away.
वेरा फ़र्श पर बैठ जाती है। नारंगी बच्चा उसकी गोद में चढ़ जाता है और तुरंत सो जाता है।
The gray kitten jumps on her shoulder and bats at her hair. Vera laughs out loud.
सलेटी बच्चा उसके कंधे पर कूद जाता है और उसके बालों पर पंजे मारता है। वेरा ज़ोर से हँस पड़ती है।
"This one has a lot of energy," Amir says. "The orange kitten is calm and quiet."
"इसमें बहुत ऊर्जा है," अमीर कहता है। "नारंगी बच्चा शांत और चुप रहता है।"
Vera thinks about her small apartment and her busy work schedule. "Maybe a calm kitten is a good choice," she says.
वेरा अपने छोटे अपार्टमेंट और अपने व्यस्त काम के बारे में सोचती है। "शायद एक शांत बच्चा ठीक रहेगा," वह कहती है।
But the gray kitten won't stop playing with her shoelace. Vera watches it and starts to smile.

"Actually, I need some energy in my life too," she says. "Can I take them both?"
"असल में मेरी ज़िंदगी में भी थोड़ी ऊर्जा चाहिए," वह कहती है। "क्या मैं दोनों को ले जा सकती हूँ?"
Amir laughs and checks his clipboard. "Two kittens, coming right up," he says. Vera fills out the papers for both.
