Choosing Between the Two Kittens

Vera visits the animal shelter to adopt one kitten. She wants just one, but two kittens catch her eye.
Vera visita el refugio de animales para adoptar un gatito. Solo quiere uno, pero dos gatitos le llaman la atención.
The first kitten is orange and sleeps in a small ball. The second kitten is gray and climbs the cage bars.
El primer gatito es naranja y duerme hecho una bolita. El segundo gatito es gris y trepa por las rejas de la jaula.
"I can't decide," Vera tells the shelter worker, Amir. "They're both so cute."
«No puedo decidir», le dice Vera al trabajador del refugio, Amir. «Los dos son muy tiernos».
"Take your time," Amir says. "Sit with both of them for a while."
«Tómese su tiempo», dice Amir. «Siéntese con los dos un rato».
Vera sits on the floor. The orange kitten climbs into her lap and falls asleep right away.
Vera se sienta en el piso. El gatito naranja se sube a su regazo y se duerme enseguida.
The gray kitten jumps on her shoulder and bats at her hair. Vera laughs out loud.
El gatito gris salta a su hombro y juega con su cabello. Vera se ríe a carcajadas.
"This one has a lot of energy," Amir says. "The orange kitten is calm and quiet."
«Este tiene mucha energía», dice Amir. «El gatito naranja es tranquilo y calmado».
Vera thinks about her small apartment and her busy work schedule. "Maybe a calm kitten is a good choice," she says.
Vera piensa en su apartamento pequeño y en su horario de trabajo ocupado. «Tal vez un gatito tranquilo sea una buena opción», dice.
But the gray kitten won't stop playing with her shoelace. Vera watches it and starts to smile.
Pero el gatito gris no deja de jugar con el cordón de su zapato. Vera lo observa y empieza a sonreír.
"Actually, I need some energy in my life too," she says. "Can I take them both?"
«En realidad, yo también necesito algo de energía en mi vida», dice. «¿Puedo llevármelos a los dos?»
Amir laughs and checks his clipboard. "Two kittens, coming right up," he says. Vera fills out the papers for both.
Amir se ríe y revisa su tablilla con papeles. «Dos gatitos, enseguida», dice. Vera llena los formularios para ambos.
