Zeke hikes the mountain trail near his house every week. He knows every turn and every marker on the path. Today he sees a woman sitting on a rock. She looks tired, and her map is upside down.
Zeke camina por el sendero de la montaña cerca de su casa cada semana. Conoce cada curva y cada señal del camino. Hoy ve a una mujer sentada en una roca. Ella se ve cansada, y su mapa está al revés.
"Are you lost?" Zeke asks.
«¿Está perdida?», pregunta Zeke.
"A little," the woman says. "My name is Astra." "I left the main trail an hour ago," she says.
«Un poco», dice la mujer. «Mi nombre es Astra». «Dejé el sendero principal hace una hora», dice.
Zeke looks at her map and turns it around. "You are close to the trail," he says. "Follow me. I know a shortcut back," he says.
Zeke mira su mapa y lo da la vuelta. «Está cerca del sendero», dice. «Sígame. Conozco un atajo de regreso», dice.
Astra stands up and picks up her bag. They walk through the trees together.
Astra se levanta y toma su bolso. Caminan juntos entre los árboles.
Zeke points out a small stream to cross. "Step on the flat rocks," he tells her.
Zeke señala un pequeño arroyo para cruzar. «Pise las rocas planas», le dice.
Astra follows his steps carefully across the water. Soon they reach the main trail again.
Astra sigue sus pasos con cuidado a través del agua. Pronto llegan de nuevo al sendero principal.
"There's the marker I remember," Astra says with a smile.
«Ahí está la señal que recuerdo», dice Astra con una sonrisa.
Zeke checks his watch and looks at the sky. "The parking lot is just down this hill," he says.
Zeke revisa su reloj y mira el cielo. «El estacionamiento está justo al pie de esta colina», dice.
They walk down together and reach the cars. Astra opens her trunk and pulls out a water bottle. "Take this. Thank you for your help," she says.
Bajan juntos y llegan a los autos. Astra abre su maletero y saca una botella de agua. «Tome esto. Gracias por su ayuda», dice.
Zeke takes the water and waves goodbye. He turns back up the trail toward home.
Zeke toma el agua y se despide con la mano. Regresa por el sendero de vuelta a casa.
