The Bakery Ran Out of Bread

Tobin visits the same bakery every Saturday morning. He always orders one loaf of bread. Today the shop looks different.
Tobin visita la misma panadería todos los sábados por la mañana. Siempre pide una barra de pan. Hoy la tienda se ve diferente.
A sign stands by the door. It says, "No bread today. Oven broken." Tobin stops and reads it twice.
Hay un cartel junto a la puerta. Dice: «No hay pan hoy. Horno dañado». Tobin se detiene y lo lee dos veces.
He steps inside anyway. The owner, Delia, waves from behind the counter. "Sorry, Tobin," she says. "Our big oven stopped working."
Entra de todas formas. La dueña, Delia, lo saluda con la mano desde el mostrador. «Perdón, Tobin», dice. «Nuestro horno grande dejó de funcionar».
"That's okay," Tobin says. "I can come back next week."
«No te preocupes», dice Tobin. «Puedo volver la próxima semana».
"Wait," Delia says. "Try something new today." She points to a tray of small orange rolls.
«Espera», dice Delia. «Prueba algo nuevo hoy». Señala una bandeja de pequeños panecillos de naranja.
"What are these?" Tobin asks. "A new recipe," Delia says. "Sweet rolls with orange peel."
«¿Qué son estos?», pregunta Tobin. «Una receta nueva», dice Delia. «Panecillos dulces con cáscara de naranja».
Tobin picks one up and smells it. It smells warm and sweet. He takes a small bite.
Tobin toma uno y lo huele. Tiene un aroma cálido y dulce. Da un pequeño mordisco.
His eyes open wide. "This is really good," he says. "I like this a lot."
Abre bien los ojos. «Esto está muy bueno», dice. «Me gusta mucho».
Delia smiles and wraps six rolls for him. "Take these home," she says. "The oven works again next week."
Delia sonríe y le envuelve seis panecillos. «Llévate estos a casa», dice. «El horno vuelve a funcionar la próxima semana».
Tobin pays and carries his warm bag outside. He smells the rolls all the way home. Bread can wait until next week.
Tobin paga y sale con su bolsa caliente. Huele los panecillos durante todo el camino a casa. El pan puede esperar hasta la próxima semana.
