The Missing Garden Gnome

Ines had a small garden in front of her house. She kept a stone gnome next to the flowers. She loved the little gnome very much.

Ines tinha um jardim pequeno na frente da casa dela. Ela mantinha um gnomo de pedra perto das flores. Ela adorava muito o pequeno gnomo.

One morning, Ines watered her flowers. She stopped and looked at the corner of the garden. The gnome was not there.

Certa manhã, Ines regou as flores. Ela parou e olhou para o canto do jardim. O gnomo não estava lá.

Ines looked around the garden. She checked behind the flowers. She checked near the fence. The gnome was nowhere.

Ines olhou por todo o jardim. Ela conferiu atrás das flores. Ela conferiu perto da cerca. O gnomo não estava em lugar nenhum.

She knocked on her neighbor's door. "Hi, Felix. Did you see my garden gnome?" she asked.

Ela bateu na porta do vizinho. "Oi, Felix. Você viu meu gnomo de jardim?", ela perguntou.

"No, I didn't," Felix said. "Maybe the wind moved it. It was very windy last night."

"Não, não vi", disse Felix. "Talvez o vento tenha movido ele. Ventou muito ontem à noite."

Ines thanked him and walked back to her garden. She looked at the bushes near the fence. Something small and gray was inside the bushes.

Ines agradeceu e voltou para o jardim. Ela olhou para os arbustos perto da cerca. Havia algo pequeno e cinza dentro dos arbustos.

She pushed the leaves apart. There was her gnome! It fell into the bushes during the storm.

Ela afastou as folhas. Lá estava o gnomo dela! Ele tinha caído nos arbustos durante a tempestade.

Ines picked up the gnome and cleaned it. She carried it back to its place by the flowers.

Ines pegou o gnomo e limpou ele. Ela levou o gnomo de volta ao lugar dele perto das flores.

"There you go," she said. "Back where you belong."

"Pronto", ela disse. "De volta ao seu lugar."

She watered the flowers one more time and went inside for breakfast.

Ela regou as flores mais uma vez e entrou para tomar café da manhã.
