Carlos bought a new bookshelf in a box. He opened it and read the instructions. He wanted to build it quickly.
कार्लोस ने एक डिब्बे में बंद नई किताबों की अलमारी ख़रीदी। उसने डिब्बा खोला और निर्देश पढ़े। वह उसे जल्दी से बनाना चाहता था।
The instructions had many small steps. Carlos skimmed them fast, not slowly. He skipped a few steps to save time.
निर्देशों में बहुत से छोटे-छोटे चरण थे। कार्लोस ने उन्हें धीरे-धीरे नहीं, बल्कि जल्दी-जल्दी सरसरी नज़र से पढ़ा। उसने समय बचाने के लिए कुछ चरण छोड़ दिए।
He put the shelves in fast. Soon, the bookshelf stood in the corner. Carlos felt proud of his quick work.
उसने शेल्फ़ें जल्दी-जल्दी लगा दीं। जल्द ही किताबों की अलमारी कोने में खड़ी हो गई। कार्लोस को अपने तेज़ काम पर गर्व हुआ।
Carlos placed his books on the shelves. The whole bookshelf wobbled from side to side. One shelf even started to lean.
कार्लोस ने अपनी किताबें शेल्फ़ों पर रखीं। पूरी अलमारी इधर-उधर हिलने लगी। एक शेल्फ़ तो झुकने भी लगी।
He pushed on it gently to test it. It wobbled even more than before. Something was clearly not right.
उसने परखने के लिए उसे धीरे से धकेला। वह पहले से भी ज़्यादा हिली। साफ़ था कि कुछ गड़बड़ है।
He looked at the instructions again, more carefully. He saw he skipped an important step. He needed to take the shelf apart again.
उसने निर्देशों को दोबारा देखा, इस बार ज़्यादा ध्यान से। उसने देखा कि उसने एक ज़रूरी चरण छोड़ दिया था। उसे शेल्फ़ को फिर से खोलना पड़ेगा।
He removed the loose top shelf. He found a missing support bar in the box. He added the bar in the right place.
उसने ढीली ऊपरी शेल्फ़ हटाई। उसे डिब्बे में एक सहारे वाली छड़ मिली, जो रह गई थी। उसने छड़ को सही जगह पर लगा दिया।
The bookshelf felt much sturdier now. Carlos put his books back carefully. This time, the shelf did not wobble.
अब किताबों की अलमारी कहीं ज़्यादा मज़बूत लग रही थी। कार्लोस ने अपनी किताबें सावधानी से वापस रखीं। इस बार शेल्फ़ नहीं हिली।
He smiled and stepped back to look. His bookshelf finally stood straight and strong. Carlos always reads every single step now.
वह मुस्कुराया और पीछे हटकर उसे देखने लगा। उसकी किताबों की अलमारी आख़िरकार सीधी और मज़बूत खड़ी थी। कार्लोस अब हर एक चरण ज़रूर पढ़ता है।
