Ursula and Wendell drove down the coast road on vacation. Heavy rain fell all night before their trip.
उर्सुला और वेंडेल छुट्टियों में तटीय सड़क पर गाड़ी चला रहे थे। उनकी यात्रा से पहले पूरी रात तेज़ बारिश हुई थी।
A police officer stood at a barrier ahead. "The road is closed past this point," he said. "Water covers the road near the bridge," he explained.
आगे एक बैरियर पर एक पुलिस अधिकारी खड़ा था। "इस जगह के आगे सड़क बंद है," उसने कहा। "पुल के पास सड़क पर पानी भर गया है," उसने समझाया।
"Is there another road?" Ursula asked.

"Yes, but it takes an extra hour," the officer said.

Wendell looked at the map on his phone. "Let's try it. We are in no rush," he said.

They turned the car around and followed the officer's directions. The new road went through small quiet towns.
उन्होंने कार घुमाई और अधिकारी के बताए रास्ते पर चल पड़े। नई सड़क छोटे, शांत क़स्बों से होकर गुज़री।
They passed farms, fields, and a row of old barns. Wendell rolled down his window and smelled the wet grass.
वे खेतों, मैदानों और पुराने खलिहानों की एक क़तार के पास से गुज़रे। वेंडेल ने अपनी खिड़की नीचे की और गीली घास की महक ली।
Ursula pointed out a rainbow over the hills. "Look at that," she said, and slowed the car.
उर्सुला ने पहाड़ियों के ऊपर एक इंद्रधनुष की ओर इशारा किया। "वह देखो," उसने कहा और कार धीमी कर दी।
They stopped for a few minutes to take a picture. The detour road joined the highway near the coast again.

They reached the beach house just after sunset. They laughed about the long detour over dinner.
