Lena writes a text message late at night. She wants to tell her sister about a man she likes. She picks the wrong name in her phone.
Lena escribe un mensaje de texto tarde en la noche. Quiere contarle a su hermana sobre un chico que le gusta. Elige el nombre equivocado en su teléfono.
The message goes to Tariq instead, a man from her book club. He reads it and feels very confused. It says, "I really like him. I want to ask him out soon!"
El mensaje le llega a Tariq en su lugar, un hombre de su club de lectura. Él lo lee y se siente muy confundido. Dice: «Me gusta mucho. ¡Quiero invitarlo a salir pronto!»
Tariq doesn't understand the message. He decides to write back. "Hi Lena, I think this message is for someone else," he types.
Tariq no entiende el mensaje. Decide responder. «Hola, Lena, creo que este mensaje es para otra persona», escribe.
Lena checks her phone the next morning. Her face turns red when she reads Tariq's message. "Oh no, that was a big mistake," she says to herself.
Lena revisa su teléfono a la mañana siguiente. Se le pone la cara roja cuando lee el mensaje de Tariq. «Ay, no, qué error tan grande», se dice a sí misma.
She calls Tariq right away. "I'm so sorry," she says. "That message wasn't for you."
Llama a Tariq enseguida. «Lo siento mucho», dice. «Ese mensaje no era para ti».
"It's okay," Tariq says and laughs. "But now I'm curious. Who do you like?"
«Está bien», dice Tariq y se ríe. «Pero ahora tengo curiosidad. ¿Quién te gusta?»
Lena laughs too and feels a little nervous. "Actually," she says slowly, "I think I like you."
Lena también se ríe y se siente un poco nerviosa. «En realidad», dice despacio, «creo que me gustas tú».
Tariq goes quiet for a moment. Then he smiles. "I like you too," he says. "Do you want to get coffee this week?"
Tariq se queda callado por un momento. Luego sonríe. «A mí también me gustas», dice. «¿Quieres ir a tomar un café esta semana?»
"Yes," Lena says. "I'd like that a lot." They talk on the phone for another hour. Lena forgets all about her sister.
«Sí», dice Lena. «Me gustaría mucho». Hablan por teléfono durante otra hora más. Lena se olvida por completo de su hermana.
