The Stranger at the Party

Bo goes to his friend's birthday party on Friday. The house is loud and full of people. He knows almost everyone in the room.

Bo vai à festa de aniversário do amigo dele na sexta-feira. A casa está barulhenta e cheia de gente. Ele conhece quase todo mundo na sala.

Near the snack table, he notices a girl standing alone. She holds a cup and looks at her phone. Nobody talks to her.

Perto da mesa de salgadinhos, ele percebe uma garota sozinha. Ela segura um copo e olha para o celular. Ninguém fala com ela.

Bo walks over with a friendly smile. "Hi, I'm Bo," he says. "Do you like the party?"

Bo se aproxima com um sorriso amigável. "Oi, eu sou o Bo", ele diz. "Você está gostando da festa?"

The girl looks up, a little surprised. "Not really," she admits. "I'm Nella. I don't know anyone here."

A garota olha para cima, um pouco surpresa. "Não muito", ela admite. "Eu sou a Nella. Não conheço ninguém aqui."

"I know almost everyone," Bo says. "Let me introduce you around." Nella smiles for the first time.

"Eu conheço quase todo mundo", Bo diz. "Deixa eu te apresentar para o pessoal." Nella sorri pela primeira vez.

He brings her to his group of friends. They sit together by the couch. They make room for her right away. Someone hands her a slice of pizza.

Ele a leva até o grupo de amigos dele. Eles se sentam juntos perto do sofá. Fazem espaço para ela na mesma hora. Alguém entrega uma fatia de pizza para ela.

Nella asks questions about the birthday girl. Bo tells her a funny story from last year. The whole group laughs together.

Nella faz perguntas sobre a aniversariante. Bo conta uma história engraçada do ano passado. O grupo todo ri junto.

An hour later, Nella talks and laughs with everyone. She tells a joke of her own. The group laughs a lot.

Uma hora depois, Nella conversa e ri com todo mundo. Ela conta uma piada sua. O grupo ri muito.

Near the end of the night, Bo finds Nella. She stands by the door. "Thanks for talking to me first," she says. "I had a good time tonight."

Perto do fim da noite, Bo encontra Nella. Ela está perto da porta. "Obrigada por falar comigo primeiro", ela diz. "Eu me diverti muito hoje à noite."

"Same time next week?" Bo asks. Nella laughs and nods. "I bring the pizza next time," she says.

"Mesmo horário semana que vem?" Bo pergunta. Nella ri e balança a cabeça que sim. "Eu levo a pizza da próxima vez", ela diz.

The next weekend, Bo texts Nella first. They meet at a different friend's party. This time, Nella already knows half the room.

No fim de semana seguinte, Bo manda mensagem para Nella primeiro. Eles se encontram na festa de outro amigo. Dessa vez, Nella já conhece metade da sala.
