Helping a Customer Find a Book

Elena started working at the city library three years ago. She knows almost every shelf very well. Today, she opens the library at nine o'clock.

Elena começou a trabalhar na biblioteca da cidade há três anos. Ela conhece quase todas as prateleiras muito bem. Hoje, ela abre a biblioteca às nove horas.

An older man walks in a few minutes later. He looks a little lost, so Elena walks over to help him.

Um senhor mais velho entra alguns minutos depois. Ele parece um pouco perdido, então Elena vai até ele para ajudar.

"Good morning. Can I help you find something?" Elena asks.

"Bom dia. Posso ajudar o senhor a encontrar alguma coisa?", pergunta Elena.

"Yes, please," the man says. "I'm looking for a book, but I don't remember the title."

"Sim, por favor", diz o homem. "Estou procurando um livro, mas não me lembro do título."

"That's okay," Elena says. "What is the book about?"

"Tudo bem", diz Elena. "Sobre o que é o livro?"

"It's about a sailor," the man says. "He gets lost at sea and finds a strange island. I read it years ago."

"É sobre um marinheiro", diz o homem. "Ele se perde no mar e encontra uma ilha estranha. Eu o li há anos."

Elena thinks for a moment. She remembers a few old books about a sailor and an island.

Elena pensa por um momento. Ela se lembra de alguns livros antigos sobre um marinheiro e uma ilha.

"I think I know which book you mean," she says. "Follow me, please."

"Acho que sei qual livro o senhor quer dizer", ela diz. "Venha comigo, por favor."

She walks to the back of the library, past the history section. She stops at a tall shelf near the window.

Ela caminha até o fundo da biblioteca, passando pela seção de história. Ela para em uma prateleira alta perto da janela.

"Here it is," Elena says, pulling out an old blue book. "Is this the one?"

"Aqui está", diz Elena, tirando um livro azul antigo da prateleira. "É este?"

The man takes the book and looks at the cover. He smiles a big smile.

O homem pega o livro e olha para a capa. Ele abre um grande sorriso.

"Yes! This is it!" he says. "I can't believe you found it so fast."

"Sim! É este!", ele diz. "Não acredito que você o encontrou tão rápido."

"I read it myself, years ago," Elena says with a smile. "It's one of my favorites too."

"Eu mesma o li, há anos", diz Elena com um sorriso. "É um dos meus favoritos também."

The man thanks her again. He walks to a table by the window.

O homem agradece a ela novamente. Ele vai até uma mesa perto da janela.

Elena returns to the front desk. She starts sorting the returned books.

Elena volta para o balcão de atendimento. Ela começa a organizar os livros devolvidos.
