Helping a Customer Find a Book

Elena started working at the city library three years ago. She knows almost every shelf very well. Today, she opens the library at nine o'clock.

एलेना ने तीन साल पहले शहर की लाइब्रेरी में काम करना शुरू किया था। वह लगभग हर शेल्फ़ को बहुत अच्छी तरह जानती है। आज वह नौ बजे लाइब्रेरी खोलती है।

An older man walks in a few minutes later. He looks a little lost, so Elena walks over to help him.

कुछ मिनट बाद एक बुज़ुर्ग आदमी अंदर आता है। वह थोड़ा भटका हुआ-सा लगता है, इसलिए एलेना उसकी मदद करने के लिए उसके पास जाती है।

"Good morning. Can I help you find something?" Elena asks.

"नमस्ते। क्या मैं आपको कुछ ढूँढ़ने में मदद कर सकती हूँ?" एलेना पूछती है।

"Yes, please," the man says. "I'm looking for a book, but I don't remember the title."

"हाँ, ज़रूर," आदमी कहता है। "मैं एक किताब ढूँढ़ रहा हूँ, लेकिन मुझे उसका नाम याद नहीं है।"

"That's okay," Elena says. "What is the book about?"

"कोई बात नहीं," एलेना कहती है। "वह किताब किस बारे में है?"

"It's about a sailor," the man says. "He gets lost at sea and finds a strange island. I read it years ago."

"वह एक मल्लाह के बारे में है," आदमी कहता है। "वह समुद्र में रास्ता भटक जाता है और उसे एक अजीब टापू मिलता है। मैंने उसे बरसों पहले पढ़ा था।"

Elena thinks for a moment. She remembers a few old books about a sailor and an island.

एलेना एक पल सोचती है। उसे मल्लाह और टापू वाली कुछ पुरानी किताबें याद आती हैं।

"I think I know which book you mean," she says. "Follow me, please."

"मुझे लगता है मैं समझ गई कि आप कौन-सी किताब की बात कर रहे हैं," वह कहती है। "कृपया मेरे साथ आइए।"

She walks to the back of the library, past the history section. She stops at a tall shelf near the window.

वह लाइब्रेरी के पिछले हिस्से में जाती है, इतिहास वाले हिस्से के पास से होकर। वह खिड़की के पास एक ऊँची शेल्फ़ पर रुक जाती है।

"Here it is," Elena says, pulling out an old blue book. "Is this the one?"

"यह रही," एलेना एक पुरानी नीली किताब खींचते हुए कहती है। "क्या यही वह किताब है?"

The man takes the book and looks at the cover. He smiles a big smile.

आदमी किताब लेकर उसका कवर देखता है। उसके चेहरे पर बड़ी-सी मुस्कान आ जाती है।

"Yes! This is it!" he says. "I can't believe you found it so fast."

"हाँ! यही है!" वह कहता है। "मुझे यक़ीन नहीं हो रहा कि आपने इसे इतनी जल्दी ढूँढ़ लिया।"

"I read it myself, years ago," Elena says with a smile. "It's one of my favorites too."

"मैंने ख़ुद इसे बरसों पहले पढ़ा था," एलेना मुस्कुराकर कहती है। "यह मेरी भी पसंदीदा किताबों में से एक है।"

The man thanks her again. He walks to a table by the window.

आदमी उसे फिर से शुक्रिया कहता है। वह खिड़की के पास की एक मेज़ की ओर चला जाता है।

Elena returns to the front desk. She starts sorting the returned books.

एलेना वापस फ़्रंट डेस्क पर आ जाती है। वह लौटाई गई किताबें छाँटने लगती है।
