Two Seats on the Ferry

Selim travels with his daughter Halima. They stand at the ferry ticket window.

Selim bepergian bersama putrinya, Halima. Mereka berdiri di loket tiket kapal feri.

"Two kinds of seats today," the worker says. "Covered seats inside, or open seats on the deck." "The covered seats cost extra," the worker adds.

"Hari ini ada dua jenis tempat duduk," kata petugas. "Tempat duduk beratap di dalam, atau tempat duduk terbuka di dek." "Tempat duduk beratap biayanya lebih mahal," tambah petugas.

Halima looks at the gray sky above the water. "The open seats sound cold," she says.

Halima melihat langit kelabu di atas air. "Tempat duduk terbuka sepertinya dingin," katanya.

"But the deck has a nice view," Selim says.

"Tapi dek punya pemandangan yang indah," kata Selim.

"I like watching the water," Halima says. "Let's sit outside," she says with a smile.

"Aku suka melihat air," kata Halima. "Ayo duduk di luar," katanya sambil tersenyum.

They buy two tickets for the open deck. The ferry leaves the dock right on time.

Mereka membeli dua tiket untuk dek terbuka. Kapal feri meninggalkan dermaga tepat waktu.

Wind pushes against their coats and hair. Halima pulls her hood up over her ears.

Angin menerpa mantel dan rambut mereka. Halima menarik tudungnya menutupi telinga.

The boat moves past small green islands. Birds fly low over the waves nearby.

Kapal itu melaju melewati pulau-pulau kecil yang hijau. Burung-burung terbang rendah di atas ombak di dekatnya.

"I am glad we picked this side," Halima says.

"Aku senang kita memilih sisi ini," kata Halima.

Selim points at something near the boat. "Look, over there! A dolphin!" he says.

Selim menunjuk sesuatu di dekat kapal. "Lihat, di sana! Seekor lumba-lumba!" katanya.

Halima leans over the rail and watches it swim. The wind is cold, and the ride is fun. They watch the dolphin swim away.

Halima bersandar di pagar dan melihat lumba-lumba itu berenang. Anginnya dingin, dan perjalanannya menyenangkan. Mereka melihat lumba-lumba itu berenang menjauh.

Soon they can see the island ahead. Small white houses sit on the hill. Halima wants to see the market near the dock.

Tak lama kemudian mereka bisa melihat pulau di depan. Rumah-rumah putih kecil berdiri di atas bukit. Halima ingin melihat pasar di dekat dermaga.
