Rasa shops at the outdoor market every Friday. She buys fruit from the same stall each time. A vendor named Tavish runs the stall.
रसा हर शुक्रवार खुले बाज़ार में ख़रीदारी करती है। वह हर बार एक ही दुकान से फल ख़रीदती है। टैविश नाम का एक दुकानदार वह दुकान चलाता है।
Today Rasa buys apples, pears, and a bag of nuts. She hands Tavish a large bill. He counts out her change fast.
आज रसा सेब, नाशपाती और मेवों का एक पैकेट ख़रीदती है। वह टैविश को एक बड़ा नोट देती है। वह जल्दी से उसकी रेज़गारी गिनकर देता है।
Rasa puts the coins in her pocket. She walks to her car with her bags. Something feels wrong about the change.
रसा सिक्के अपनी जेब में रख लेती है। वह अपने बैग लेकर अपनी कार की ओर चलती है। उसे रेज़गारी में कुछ गड़बड़ लगती है।
She stops and counts the coins again. The amount looks too small. Rasa checks her receipt carefully.
वह रुककर सिक्के फिर से गिनती है। रक़म बहुत कम लगती है। रसा अपनी रसीद ध्यान से जाँचती है।
She looks at the prices on the paper. Then she checks her own math again. Rasa forgets to add the nuts.
वह काग़ज़ पर लिखे दाम देखती है। फिर वह अपना हिसाब एक बार और जाँचती है। रसा मेवे जोड़ना भूल गई थी।
The mistake is hers, not the vendor's. She feels a little silly about it. She walks back to the stall anyway.
ग़लती उसकी अपनी है, दुकानदार की नहीं। उसे अपने ऊपर थोड़ी हँसी आती है। फिर भी वह दुकान की ओर वापस चल पड़ती है।
"Tavish," Rasa says. "I made a mistake with my math." She explains the missing amount for the nuts.
"टैविश," रसा कहती है। "मुझसे हिसाब में ग़लती हो गई थी।" वह मेवों की छूटी हुई रक़म समझाती है।
"That happens all the time," Tavish says. "Thank you for coming back." Rasa pays the extra amount right away.
"ऐसा तो होता ही रहता है," टैविश कहता है। "वापस आने के लिए शुक्रिया।" रसा तुरंत बाक़ी रक़म चुका देती है।
She picks up her bags again. Tavish waves and calls out, "See you next Friday!" Rasa waves back and walks to her car.
वह अपने बैग फिर से उठा लेती है। टैविश हाथ हिलाकर पुकारता है, "अगले शुक्रवार मिलते हैं!" रसा भी हाथ हिलाती है और अपनी कार की ओर चल देती है।
