The Pastry Left on Her Desk

Freya has a hard morning at work. Her computer crashes twice, and she spills coffee on her shirt.

Freya tiene una mañana difícil en el trabajo. Su computadora se traba dos veces, y derrama café en su camisa.

At noon, she walks back to her desk after a long meeting. She stops and stares at her desk.

A small paper bag sits next to her keyboard. Inside, she finds her favorite pastry from the bakery down the street.

There is no note, but Freya knows who left it. Only one person remembers her favorite pastry: Rowan from the design team.

She walks over to his desk with the bag in her hand. "Did you leave this for me?" she asks.

Rowan looks up from his computer and smiles. "Maybe," he says. "You looked tired this morning."

"That's really sweet," Freya says. "Thank you." She feels her face turn a little warm.

"It's just a pastry," Rowan says, but he looks pleased. "I remembered you like the ones with the orange filling."

Freya sits on the edge of his desk. "Do you want to share it?" she asks.

"I already ate mine an hour ago," Rowan says with a laugh. "But I'll watch you eat yours."

Freya laughs and opens the bag. She breaks off a piece and eats it slowly. She stays right there at his desk.
