The Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt

Mai and Duc join the neighborhood scavenger hunt. Every team gets a list of clues. The first clue is easy to solve.

Mai y Duc se unen a la búsqueda del tesoro del barrio. Cada equipo recibe una lista de pistas. La primera pista es fácil de resolver.

"Find the red bench near the school," Mai reads. They find the bench and grab the next card.

«Encuentren el banco rojo cerca de la escuela», lee Mai. Encuentran el banco y toman la siguiente tarjeta.

The next clue says, "Look where water meets stone."

La siguiente pista dice: «Miren donde el agua toca la piedra».

Duc thinks about the old stone fountain downtown. Mai thinks about the small pond near the garden. Two places seem to match the same clue.

Duc piensa en la vieja fuente de piedra del centro. Mai piensa en el pequeño estanque cerca del jardín. Dos lugares parecen coincidir con la misma pista.

"We only have time for one place," Duc says. "We need to pick carefully," Mai says.

«Solo tenemos tiempo para un lugar», dice Duc. «Tenemos que elegir con cuidado», dice Mai.

They read the clue again, word by word. "Water meets stone," Mai repeats slowly. "A fountain has water hitting stone every second." "A pond just sits still and quiet."

Vuelven a leer la pista, palabra por palabra. «El agua toca la piedra», repite Mai lentamente. «Una fuente tiene agua golpeando la piedra a cada segundo». «Un estanque solo se queda quieto y en silencio».

"The fountain fits the clue," Duc says. "Let's run there right now," Mai says.

«La fuente coincide con la pista», dice Duc. «Corramos hasta allá ahora mismo», dice Mai.

They race toward the old stone fountain. A small card waits taped to its edge.

Corren hacia la vieja fuente de piedra. Una pequeña tarjeta los espera pegada en el borde.

Duc grabs it and reads it fast. "Congratulations! Your team solved every clue," it says. "Your prize is the rooftop garden picnic."

Duc la toma y la lee rápido. «¡Felicidades! Su equipo resolvió todas las pistas», dice. «Su premio es el picnic en el jardín de la azotea».

Mai claps her hands together with joy. "Our choice was the right one," she says.

Mai aplaude con alegría. «Nuestra elección fue la correcta», dice.

They run toward the community center together. A small picnic waits for them on the roof. Sandwiches, juice, and a shiny gold ribbon sit ready.

Corren juntos hacia el centro comunitario. Un pequeño picnic los espera en la azotea. Sándwiches, jugo y una brillante cinta dorada están listos.

Duc picks up the ribbon and smiles. "Great team choice today," he says.

Duc toma la cinta y sonríe. «Gran elección de equipo hoy», dice.
