Fabian helped at a small farm for children every Saturday. He fed the rabbits, cleaned the barn and answered questions. One sunny morning, he wore his favorite green hat. His grandfather gave it to him.
法比安每个星期六都去一个儿童小农场帮忙。他喂兔子，打扫谷仓，回答孩子们的问题。一个阳光明媚的早晨，他戴上了他最喜欢的绿帽子。那是他爷爷送给他的。
About twenty children came to the farm that day. Fabian bent down to fill a water bucket. A brown goat walked up behind him. It took the hat in its mouth and ran across the field.
那天大约有二十个孩子来到农场。法比安弯下腰去装一桶水。一只棕色的山羊从他身后走了过来。它一口叼住帽子，跑过了田野。
"Hey!" shouted Fabian. "That's my hat!"
“嘿！”法比安喊道，“那是我的帽子！”
He ran after the goat. The goat ran around the big tree. It ran around the pig house. It ran through the group of children. The children laughed and shouted. Some cheered for Fabian, and some cheered for the goat.
他追着山羊跑。山羊绕着大树跑。它绕着猪舍跑。它穿过一群孩子跑。孩子们又笑又叫。有的给法比安加油，有的给山羊加油。
Fabian tripped on a bucket and fell into the straw. He sat there and tried to breathe. The goat stood far away and chewed the hat.
法比安被一只水桶绊了一下，摔进了干草里。他坐在那儿，努力喘着气。山羊站在远处，嚼着那顶帽子。
Then Fabian had an idea. He took a carrot from the rabbit food in his pocket. He sat on the grass and held it out. He did not move.
这时法比安有了一个主意。他从口袋里的兔子饲料中拿出一根胡萝卜。他坐在草地上，把胡萝卜伸出去。他一动也不动。
The goat stopped. It looked at the carrot, and it looked at Fabian. Then it walked slowly to him. It dropped the hat and took the carrot.
山羊停了下来。它看看胡萝卜，又看看法比安。然后它慢慢地朝他走来。它放下帽子，叼走了胡萝卜。
Fabian picked up the hat. There was a big hole in the top.
法比安捡起帽子。帽顶上有一个大洞。
"It looks terrible," said a small boy.
“看起来糟透了，”一个小男孩说。
"It looks fine," said Fabian. He put it on anyway. Some of his hair came out of the hole. Then he went back to the rabbits.
“看起来挺好的，”法比安说。他还是把帽子戴上了。他的一些头发从洞里钻了出来。然后他回到兔子那里去了。
