Zara's best friend has set her up on a blind date at the pub's weekly trivia night. She almost cancels twice before finally walking through the door. Her date, Bram, is already sitting at a small table near the back. He looks just as nervous as she feels. Zara orders a lemonade and sits down across from him, unsure how to start.
A melhor amiga de Zara a arranjou um encontro às cegas na noite semanal de perguntas e respostas do bar. Ela quase cancela duas vezes antes de finalmente entrar pela porta. Seu par, Bram, já está sentado numa mesinha perto dos fundos. Ele parece tão nervoso quanto ela se sente. Zara pede uma limonada e se senta à frente dele, sem saber como começar.
The first round asks about geography, and neither of them says much. Zara answers two questions correctly but stays quiet about the rest, unsure how to start a conversation. Bram taps his pen against the table, clearly searching for something to say too. The second round covers movies, and they both guess wrong on every single question. Somehow, that makes them both laugh.
A primeira rodada é sobre geografia, e nenhum dos dois fala muito. Zara acerta duas perguntas, mas fica calada quanto ao resto, sem saber como puxar assunto. Bram bate a caneta na mesa, claramente procurando algo para dizer também. A segunda rodada é sobre filmes, e os dois erram todas as perguntas, sem exceção. De alguma forma, isso faz os dois rirem.
Everything changes during the music round. A question about an obscure 1980s band appears. Both of them shout the answer at the same moment. They stare at each other, surprised, then laugh so hard that the team beside them turns to look.
Tudo muda durante a rodada de música. Aparece uma pergunta sobre uma banda obscura dos anos 1980. Os dois gritam a resposta ao mesmo tempo. Eles se olham, surpresos, e depois riem tanto que a equipe ao lado se vira para olhar.
"How do you even know that song?" Bram asks, grinning for the first time all night. Zara admits her older sister used to play that album constantly when she was growing up. Bram says his father did the exact same thing. For the next few questions, they answer as a real team.
"Como é que você conhece essa música?" Bram pergunta, sorrindo pela primeira vez naquela noite. Zara admite que a irmã mais velha dela tocava aquele álbum sem parar quando ela era criança. Bram diz que o pai dele fazia exatamente a mesma coisa. Nas perguntas seguintes, eles respondem como uma verdadeira equipe.
By the final round, they are leaning across the table, arguing happily about answers instead of staying quiet. Their team doesn't win, but Zara doesn't mind at all. If trivia night happens again next week, she already knows she'll be back, and so will Bram. Neither of them mentions the blind date part again; they simply agree on a time.
Na rodada final, eles já estão debruçados sobre a mesa, discutindo animadamente as respostas em vez de ficar calados. A equipe deles não ganha, mas Zara não se importa nem um pouco. Se a noite de perguntas e respostas acontecer de novo na semana seguinte, ela já sabe que vai voltar, e Bram também.
