Casimir and Malia rode their bikes along the river trail. The sun was warm, and the path was empty that morning.
Casimir e Malia andavam de bicicleta pela trilha do rio. O sol estava quente, e o caminho estava vazio naquela manhã.
Halfway through the ride, Casimir's bike made a strange clicking sound. Then the pedals stopped turning. The chain hung loose by the back wheel.
No meio do percurso, a bicicleta de Casimir fez um estalo estranho. Depois os pedais pararam de girar. A corrente ficou solta perto da roda de trás.
"My chain came off," Casimir said. He got off his bike and looked down at it.
"Minha corrente saiu", disse Casimir. Ele desceu da bicicleta e olhou para ela.
Malia stopped beside him. "Do you have a tool kit?" she asked.
Malia parou ao lado dele. "Você tem um kit de ferramentas?" ela perguntou.
"It's in my bag," Casimir said. He pulled out a small kit with a chain tool inside.
"Está na minha bolsa", disse Casimir. Ele tirou um pequeno kit com uma ferramenta para corrente dentro.
Malia held the bike steady. Casimir worked on the chain. He looped it back over the small gears and pulled it tight.
Malia segurou a bicicleta firme. Casimir trabalhou na corrente. Ele a encaixou de volta nas engrenagens pequenas e a esticou.
"There," he said. "That will fix it."
"Pronto", ele disse. "Isso vai resolver."
He turned the pedal slowly. The chain moved smoothly around the gears.
Ele girou o pedal devagar. A corrente se movia suavemente pelas engrenagens.
"Try it now," Malia said.
"Tenta agora", disse Malia.
Casimir got back on the bike and pushed off. The chain held, and the wheels turned without a sound.
Casimir subiu na bicicleta de novo e deu impulso. A corrente aguentou, e as rodas giraram sem barulho.
"It works," he said. "Thanks for waiting."
"Funcionou", ele disse. "Obrigado por esperar."
"That's what friends do," Malia said. She got back on her own bike.
"É o que os amigos fazem", disse Malia. Ela subiu de volta na própria bicicleta.
They rode the rest of the trail together, side by side.
Eles pedalaram o resto da trilha juntos, lado a lado.
