Ryan did his own laundry for the first time. His mother was away for the weekend. He wanted to do a good job.
रयान ने पहली बार अपने कपड़े ख़ुद धोए। उसकी माँ सप्ताहांत के लिए बाहर गई थीं। वह अच्छे से काम करना चाहता था।
He put all his clothes in one load. His favorite blue sweater went in too. He never checked any of the labels.
उसने अपने सारे कपड़े एक ही बार में डाल दिए। उसका सबसे पसंदीदा नीला स्वेटर भी उसमें चला गया। उसने किसी भी लेबल को नहीं देखा।
He set the machine to hot water. He wanted his clothes very clean. Hot water seemed like the best choice.
उसने मशीन को गर्म पानी पर लगा दिया। वह अपने कपड़े बहुत साफ़ चाहता था। गर्म पानी उसे सबसे अच्छा विकल्प लगा।
An hour later, Ryan opened the dryer. He pulled out his favorite sweater. It looked much smaller than before.
एक घंटे बाद रयान ने ड्रायर खोला। उसने अपना पसंदीदा स्वेटर बाहर निकाला। वह पहले से बहुत छोटा लग रहा था।
"Oh no," Ryan said quietly. He tried to put it on. His arms barely fit in the sleeves.
"अरे नहीं," रयान ने धीरे से कहा। उसने उसे पहनने की कोशिश की। उसकी बाँहें आस्तीनों में मुश्किल से घुस रही थीं।
Ryan called his older sister for help. He told her what happened. She laughed a little and came over.
रयान ने मदद के लिए अपनी बड़ी बहन को फ़ोन किया। उसने उसे बताया कि क्या हुआ। वह थोड़ा हँसी और घर आ गई।
"Wool shrinks in hot water," his sister said. "Next time, use cold water," she added. "And check the label first."
"ऊन गर्म पानी में सिकुड़ जाता है," उसकी बहन ने कहा। "अगली बार ठंडे पानी का इस्तेमाल करना," उसने आगे कहा। "और पहले लेबल ज़रूर देख लेना।"
Ryan looked at the tiny sweater sadly. He held it up in the light. Then he had a good idea.
रयान ने उदास होकर उस छोटे-से स्वेटर को देखा। उसने उसे रोशनी में उठाकर देखा। फिर उसके मन में एक अच्छा विचार आया।
He gave the sweater to his little cousin. His cousin loved the small blue sweater. It fit her perfectly.
उसने स्वेटर अपनी छोटी चचेरी बहन को दे दिया। उसे वह छोटा नीला स्वेटर बहुत पसंद आया। वह उसे एकदम ठीक आया।
Ryan washed the rest of his clothes again. This time, he read every single label. He felt a little wiser about laundry.
