It is Saturday, and the market is busy. Lupita walks between the stalls. She needs tomatoes for her mom.
शनिवार है, और बाज़ार में बहुत भीड़ है। लुपिता दुकानों के बीच से गुज़र रही है। उसे अपनी माँ के लिए टमाटर चाहिए।
Many people talk and laugh. Then she hears crying. A small boy stands alone by a box of oranges. His face is wet.
बहुत से लोग बातें और हँसी-मज़ाक कर रहे हैं। तभी उसे रोने की आवाज़ सुनाई देती है। संतरों की एक पेटी के पास एक छोटा लड़का अकेला खड़ा है। उसका चेहरा आँसुओं से भीगा है।
Lupita kneels down. "Hello," she says. "What is your name?"
लुपिता घुटनों के बल बैठ जाती है। "हैलो," वह कहती है। "तुम्हारा नाम क्या है?"
"Teo," the boy says.
"तेओ," लड़का कहता है।
"Where is your dad, Teo?"
"तेओ, तुम्हारे पापा कहाँ हैं?"
"I don't know," he says. He cries again.
"मुझे नहीं पता," वह कहता है। वह फिर से रोने लगता है।
"It is okay," Lupita says. "Let's look for him together. What does your dad wear?"
"कोई बात नहीं," लुपिता कहती है। "चलो, हम साथ मिलकर उन्हें ढूँढ़ते हैं। तुम्हारे पापा ने क्या पहना है?"
"A yellow hat."
"पीली टोपी।"
"Good. Hold my hand."
"अच्छा। मेरा हाथ पकड़ लो।"
They walk through the market. Lupita looks for a yellow hat. She sees many people, but no yellow hat.
वे बाज़ार में आगे बढ़ते हैं। लुपिता पीली टोपी ढूँढ़ती है। उसे बहुत से लोग दिखते हैं, पर कोई पीली टोपी नहीं दिखती।
"Where did you see your dad last?" she asks.
"तुमने अपने पापा को आख़िरी बार कहाँ देखा था?" वह पूछती है।
"At the fruit stall," Teo says. "He buys apples."
"फलों की दुकान पर," तेओ कहता है। "वे सेब ख़रीद रहे थे।"
"Then let's go there and wait," she says.
"तो चलो, वहीं चलकर इंतज़ार करते हैं," वह कहती है।
They stand by the fruit stall. The seller gives Teo a slice of apple. He stops crying and eats it.
वे फलों की दुकान के पास खड़े हो जाते हैं। दुकानदार तेओ को सेब का एक टुकड़ा देता है। वह रोना बंद कर देता है और उसे खाने लगता है।
Soon a man in a yellow hat runs to them. "Teo!" he shouts. Teo runs to him, and the man picks him up.
जल्दी ही पीली टोपी वाला एक आदमी दौड़ता हुआ उनके पास आता है। "तेओ!" वह चिल्लाता है। तेओ दौड़कर उसके पास जाता है, और वह आदमी उसे गोद में उठा लेता है।
"Thank you," the dad says. He gives Lupita a big red apple.
"शुक्रिया," पापा कहते हैं। वे लुपिता को एक बड़ा लाल सेब देते हैं।
She takes it and goes back to find her tomatoes.
वह उसे लेकर अपने टमाटर ढूँढ़ने वापस चली जाती है।
