Every Thursday, Ayo hosts a card game night. Four friends usually fill the table. Snacks and drinks cover every corner of the room.
हर गुरुवार को आयो ताश के खेल की रात का आयोजन करता है। आमतौर पर चार दोस्त मेज़ भर देते हैं। कमरे के हर कोने में नाश्ता और पेय रखे होते हैं।
This Thursday, one friend cancels at the last minute. He catches a bad cold. Ayo now has only three players.
इस गुरुवार एक दोस्त ऐन मौक़े पर आने से मना कर देता है। उसे बुरी तरह सर्दी-ज़ुकाम हो गया है। अब आयो के पास सिर्फ़ तीन खिलाड़ी हैं।
The game needs four people to work well. Ayo checks his phone for anyone free tonight. Nobody answers his messages in time.
खेल ठीक से खेलने के लिए चार लोग चाहिए। आयो अपने फ़ोन में देखता है कि आज रात कौन ख़ाली है। कोई भी समय पर उसके मैसेजों का जवाब नहीं देता।
He looks out the window, thinking fast. His new neighbor Sevda waters plants outside. He barely knows her. He walks over anyway.
वह तेज़ी से सोचते हुए खिड़की से बाहर देखता है। उसकी नई पड़ोसन सेव्दा बाहर पौधों को पानी दे रही है। वह उसे मुश्किल से जानता है। फिर भी वह उसके पास चला जाता है।
"Hi, I'm Ayo, from next door," he says. "We're one player short for game night. Do you want to join us?"
"हाय, मैं आयो हूँ, बग़ल वाले घर से," वह कहता है। "गेम नाइट के लिए हमारा एक खिलाड़ी कम है। क्या आप हमारे साथ खेलेंगी?"
Sevda looks surprised, then smiles. "I never played this game before," she says. "But sure, why not?"

She sets down her watering can and follows him inside. Ayo explains the rules in two quick minutes. Sevda learns the game fast.

By the end of the night, Sevda wins two rounds. The group cheers for the new player. Ayo saves her a seat for next week.
रात के अंत तक सेव्दा दो राउंड जीत लेती है। सब नई खिलाड़ी के लिए तालियाँ बजाते हैं। आयो अगले हफ़्ते के लिए उसकी एक सीट रख लेता है।
"Same time next Thursday?" Ayo asks. Sevda nods and grabs her jacket. "I bring snacks next time," she says.
"अगले गुरुवार इसी समय?" आयो पूछता है। सेव्दा सिर हिलाती है और अपनी जैकेट उठा लेती है। "अगली बार मैं नाश्ता लाऊँगी," वह कहती है।
