The Changed Gate Number

Soraya waits at the airport for her flight. She checks the screen above the gates. Her gate number changes from twelve to twenty.

Soraya espera en el aeropuerto su vuelo. Revisa la pantalla sobre las puertas de abordaje. El número de su puerta cambia del doce al veinte.

She looks around the gate area. A man sits asleep in a chair nearby. His ticket shows the old gate number, twelve.

Mira alrededor del área de la puerta. Un hombre duerme sentado en una silla cerca de ahí. Su boleto muestra el número de puerta anterior, el doce.

Soraya walks over and taps his shoulder gently. "Excuse me, sir," she says.

Soraya se acerca y le toca el hombro con suavidad. «Disculpe, señor», dice ella.

Otto opens his eyes and looks up. "Your gate changed," Soraya says. "It's twenty now."

Otto abre los ojos y levanta la vista. «Su puerta cambió», dice Soraya. «Ahora es la veinte».

Otto looks at his ticket, then at the screen. "Oh no, thank you," he says, and stands up fast.

Otto mira su boleto, y luego la pantalla. «Ay, no, gracias», dice, y se levanta rápido.

He grabs his bag and his cane. "I almost missed my flight," he says.

Toma su bolso y su bastón. «Casi pierdo mi vuelo», dice.

They walk together toward the new gate. Soraya carries his small bag for him.

Caminan juntos hacia la nueva puerta. Soraya le carga el bolso pequeño.

"You saved me today," Otto says with a smile.

«Usted me salvó hoy», dice Otto con una sonrisa.

"I just have good eyes," Soraya says, and laughs.

«Solo tengo buena vista», dice Soraya, y ríe.

They reach gate twenty. Boarding starts right away. Otto shakes her hand and gets in line.

Llegan a la puerta veinte. El abordaje comienza enseguida. Otto le da la mano y se pone en la fila.

"Safe travels," Soraya says, and waves goodbye.

«Buen viaje», dice Soraya, y se despide con la mano.
