The Changed Gate Number

Soraya waits at the airport for her flight. She checks the screen above the gates. Her gate number changes from twelve to twenty.

Soraya espera no aeroporto pelo seu voo. Ela confere a tela acima dos portões. O número do seu portão muda de doze para vinte.

She looks around the gate area. A man sits asleep in a chair nearby. His ticket shows the old gate number, twelve.

Ela olha ao redor da área do portão. Um homem está sentado dormindo em uma cadeira perto dali. A passagem dele mostra o número antigo do portão, doze.

Soraya walks over and taps his shoulder gently. "Excuse me, sir," she says.

Soraya se aproxima e toca no ombro dele gentilmente. "Com licença, senhor", ela diz.

Otto opens his eyes and looks up. "Your gate changed," Soraya says. "It's twenty now."

Otto abre os olhos e olha para cima. "Seu portão mudou", diz Soraya. "Agora é o vinte."

Otto looks at his ticket, then at the screen. "Oh no, thank you," he says, and stands up fast.

Otto olha para a passagem dele, depois para a tela. "Ah, não, obrigado", ele diz, e se levanta rápido.

He grabs his bag and his cane. "I almost missed my flight," he says.

Ele pega sua bolsa e sua bengala. "Eu quase perdi meu voo", ele diz.

They walk together toward the new gate. Soraya carries his small bag for him.

Eles caminham juntos em direção ao novo portão. Soraya carrega a bolsa pequena dele para ajudar.

"You saved me today," Otto says with a smile.

"Você me salvou hoje", diz Otto com um sorriso.

"I just have good eyes," Soraya says, and laughs.

"Eu só tenho bons olhos", diz Soraya, e ri.

They reach gate twenty. Boarding starts right away. Otto shakes her hand and gets in line.

Eles chegam ao portão vinte. O embarque começa logo em seguida. Otto aperta a mão dela e entra na fila.

"Safe travels," Soraya says, and waves goodbye.

"Boa viagem", diz Soraya, e acena dizendo adeus.
