Sunita and her friend Nuno walk in the hills. The day is hot and sunny.
苏妮塔和朋友努诺在山里散步。那天又热又晴。
They come to a small river. It is cold and clear. There is no bridge. Big stones lie in the water.
他们来到一条小河边。河水又冷又清。没有桥。水里有几块大石头。
"We can walk on the stones," Nuno says. He goes first, and he gets across.
“我们可以踩着石头过去。”努诺说。他先走，过去了。
Sunita follows him slowly. The stones are wet. Halfway across, her foot slips.
苏妮塔慢慢地跟在他后面。石头是湿的。走到一半，她的脚滑了一下。
Her left shoe falls into the water. Her sock is wet, too. It floats away down the river.
她的左脚鞋子掉进了水里。她的袜子也湿了。鞋子顺着河水漂走了。
"My shoe!" she shouts.
“我的鞋！”她喊道。
Nuno laughs. Then he sees her face. "Run!" he says.
努诺笑了。然后他看见了她的脸色。“快追！”他说。
They run along the bank. The shoe is far ahead. It turns slowly in the water.
他们沿着河岸跑。鞋子已经漂到很远的前面。它在水里慢慢地打着转。
Nuno finds a long stick on the ground. "Take this," he says.
努诺在地上找到一根长树枝。“拿着这个。”他说。
Sunita runs faster. The river turns left. The shoe stops by a big rock. She puts the stick out. She pulls the shoe to the bank.
苏妮塔跑得更快了。河水向左拐了个弯。鞋子停在一块大石头旁边。她伸出树枝，把鞋子拉到了岸边。
"Got it!" she shouts. Nuno claps his hands.
“拿到了！”她喊道。努诺拍起了手。
She pours the water out of the shoe. It is cold and wet, but she puts it on.
她把鞋子里的水倒出来。鞋子又冷又湿，但她还是穿上了。
"Next time, I carry my shoes," she says.
“下次，我把鞋拎在手里走。”她说。
