The Rearranged Photos

Rina keeps family photos on a shelf in her hallway. She has six photos in silver frames.

Rina menyimpan foto-foto keluarga di sebuah rak di lorongnya. Ia punya enam foto dalam bingkai perak.

She sees them every day before work. She knows their order well.

Ia melihatnya setiap hari sebelum berangkat kerja. Ia hafal urutannya dengan baik.

One Monday, she stops and looks twice. The photos are in a different order.

Pada suatu hari Senin, ia berhenti dan melihat dua kali. Urutan foto-foto itu berbeda.

The wedding photo is now on the left. It is usually on the right.

Foto pernikahan sekarang ada di sebelah kiri. Biasanya foto itu ada di sebelah kanan.

Rina is surprised. She puts the photos back the way she likes them.

Rina terkejut. Ia mengembalikan foto-foto itu seperti yang ia sukai.

On Wednesday, the same thing happens again. Two photos change places once more.

Pada hari Rabu, hal yang sama terjadi lagi. Dua foto bertukar tempat sekali lagi.

She checks the front door. It is locked, just like always. Nothing else in the house looks different.

Ia memeriksa pintu depan. Pintu itu terkunci, seperti biasa. Tidak ada hal lain di rumah yang tampak berbeda.

That evening, her nephew Arlo comes to visit. He is eight years old and full of energy.

Sore itu, keponakannya, Arlo, datang berkunjung. Ia berumur delapan tahun dan penuh energi.

Rina watches him walk past the shelf. He stops and touches one of the frames.

Rina memperhatikan Arlo berjalan melewati rak itu. Anak itu berhenti dan menyentuh salah satu bingkai.

"I like moving them around," Arlo says. "I like this picture here."

"Aku suka memindah-mindahkannya," kata Arlo. "Aku suka foto yang ini di sini."

Rina laughs and sits down next to him. "Next time, tell me first," she says. "I almost thought something strange happened here!"

Rina tertawa dan duduk di sebelahnya. "Lain kali, bilang dulu ya," katanya. "Tante hampir mengira ada hal aneh yang terjadi di sini!"
