The Projector Goes Dark

Anton stands at the front of his classroom. Today is his big presentation day. He plugs in the projector and waits.

Anton berdiri di depan kelasnya. Hari ini adalah hari presentasi besarnya. Ia menyambungkan proyektor dan menunggu.

He practiced his presentation at home last night. His little sister listened and clapped for him. He felt ready for the big day.

Tadi malam ia berlatih presentasi di rumah. Adik perempuannya mendengarkan dan bertepuk tangan untuknya. Ia merasa siap menghadapi hari besar itu.

The screen stays black. He tries the cable again. Nothing happens.

Layarnya tetap hitam. Ia mencoba kabelnya lagi. Tidak terjadi apa-apa.

His teacher checks the projector too. "It's broken," she says. "Sorry, Anton."

Gurunya ikut memeriksa proyektor itu. "Rusak," katanya. "Maaf ya, Anton."

Anton looks at his notes. He has ten slides about ocean animals. He takes a deep breath.

Anton melihat catatannya. Ia punya sepuluh slide tentang hewan laut. Ia menarik napas dalam-dalam.

He picks up a marker instead. He walks to the whiteboard. He draws a simple picture of a whale.

Ia mengambil spidol sebagai gantinya. Ia berjalan ke papan tulis. Ia menggambar sebuah gambar sederhana seekor paus.

He writes three big facts under it. "I can still show you my project," he says.

Ia menulis tiga fakta penting di bawahnya. "Saya masih bisa menunjukkan proyek saya kepada kalian," katanya.

His classmates lean forward. They watch him draw a shark next. He explains each fact out loud.

Teman-teman sekelasnya mencondongkan badan ke depan. Mereka melihatnya menggambar seekor hiu berikutnya. Ia menjelaskan setiap fakta dengan lantang.

Anton finishes his last drawing right before the bell. "Great job," his teacher says. "You didn't need slides at all."

Anton menyelesaikan gambar terakhirnya tepat sebelum bel berbunyi. "Kerja bagus," kata gurunya. "Kamu sama sekali tidak butuh slide."

Anton smiles and cleans the marker off his hands. He puts his notes back in his bag.

Anton tersenyum dan membersihkan noda spidol dari tangannya. Ia memasukkan catatannya kembali ke tasnya.
