The Goat on the Trail

Wesley and Arno hike the same trail every Saturday morning. They know every turn by now.

Wesley dan Arno mendaki jalur yang sama setiap Sabtu pagi. Mereka sudah hafal setiap belokannya.

Today, they walk around a corner and stop suddenly. A goat stands in the middle of the path.

Hari ini, mereka berjalan melewati sebuah tikungan lalu berhenti mendadak. Seekor kambing berdiri di tengah jalan setapak.

"Where did that come from?" Wesley asks. The goat looks at them and doesn't move.

"Dari mana kambing itu datang?" tanya Wesley. Kambing itu menatap mereka dan tidak bergerak.

Arno takes a small step forward. The goat takes a step back and lowers its head.

Arno melangkah maju sedikit. Kambing itu mundur selangkah dan menundukkan kepalanya.

"I don't think it wants to fight," Arno says. "It just wants us to go around."

"Kurasa ia tidak mau berkelahi," kata Arno. "Ia hanya ingin kita lewat di sampingnya."

They try walking around the goat on the left side. The goat moves and blocks them again.

Mereka mencoba berjalan memutar di sisi kiri kambing itu. Kambing itu bergerak dan menghalangi mereka lagi.

"Maybe it's lost," Wesley says. "There's a farm about a mile from here."

"Mungkin ia tersesat," kata Wesley. "Ada sebuah peternakan sekitar satu mil dari sini."

Arno checks his phone for a signal. "There's a phone number on this sign," he says. He points at a small wooden sign nearby.

Arno memeriksa ponselnya untuk mencari sinyal. "Ada nomor telepon di papan ini," katanya. Ia menunjuk sebuah papan kayu kecil di dekat situ.

A farmer answers and thanks them for the call. "That's Daisy," he says. "She gets out sometimes."

Seorang peternak menjawab dan berterima kasih atas telepon mereka. "Itu Daisy," katanya. "Kadang-kadang ia keluar sendiri."

The farmer arrives fifteen minutes later with a rope. He leads Daisy back toward the farm.

Peternak itu tiba lima belas menit kemudian dengan membawa tali. Ia menuntun Daisy kembali ke peternakan.

"Thanks for waiting," the farmer says. "Some hikers just walk past her."

"Terima kasih sudah menunggu," kata peternak itu. "Beberapa pendaki hanya lewat begitu saja."

Wesley and Arno wave goodbye and continue their hike. "That was a good trail story," Wesley says with a laugh. Arno agrees, and they walk on to finish the last two miles.

Wesley dan Arno melambaikan tangan lalu melanjutkan pendakian. "Itu cerita yang bagus untuk jalur ini," kata Wesley sambil tertawa. Arno setuju, dan mereka berjalan terus untuk menyelesaikan dua mil terakhir.
