The Farewell Gathering

Tavi planned to move to a new city soon. Her friends wanted to say goodbye properly. Two different groups planned two different parties.

Ilse and the soccer team planned a picnic. Wynn and the art club planned a quiet café dinner. Both parties landed on the same Saturday.

Tavi loved both groups equally. She played soccer with Ilse for six years. She painted next to Wynn every week this year.

She called Ilse first. "I want to come to the picnic," Tavi said. "But Wynn planned something for the same day."

Ilse laughed. "Wynn already told me," she said. "Come to us in the afternoon. Go to them after."

Tavi liked that idea a lot. She called Wynn and explained the new plan. Wynn agreed right away. She just wanted to see Tavi.

On Saturday, Tavi spent the afternoon at the picnic. The soccer team played one last game together. Tavi scored the final goal of the day.

At six o'clock, she said goodbye to the team. She walked straight to the small café down the street. Wynn already had a seat saved for her.

The art club gave her a card. It held all their drawings. Tavi opened it slowly at the table. Every page held a small piece of the year.

She hugged Wynn and looked around the table. "Two parties, one really good day," she said. She promised to send pictures from her new city.
