The Storm During Their First Date

Owen waits outside the food trucks at six o'clock. This is his first date with Maren. He checks his phone two times.

Maren arrives a few minutes late. "Sorry, the bus was slow," she says. "No problem at all," Owen says with a smile.

Maren tiba beberapa menit terlambat. "Maaf, busnya lambat," katanya. "Tidak apa-apa sama sekali," kata Owen sambil tersenyum.

They walk past the food trucks and pick one with noodles. They carry their food to a small table outside.

Mereka berjalan melewati deretan food truck dan memilih yang menjual mi. Mereka membawa makanan mereka ke meja kecil di luar.

The sky turns gray while they eat. Owen looks up and says, "I think it's going to rain soon."

Langit berubah kelabu saat mereka makan. Owen menengadah dan berkata, "Sepertinya sebentar lagi hujan."

Big drops fall on the table. Maren laughs and grabs her bag. "Run!" she shouts.

Tetesan besar jatuh di atas meja. Maren tertawa dan menyambar tasnya. "Lari!" serunya.

They run under a store roof nearby. The rain falls hard and fast. Their noodles get wet, but they don't stop laughing.

Mereka berlari berteduh di bawah atap sebuah toko di dekat situ. Hujan turun deras dan cepat. Mi mereka basah, tetapi mereka tak berhenti tertawa.

"Well, this isn't the date I planned," Owen says. Maren laughs again. "It's fun this way too," she says.

"Wah, ini bukan kencan yang kurencanakan," kata Owen. Maren tertawa lagi. "Seru juga begini," katanya.

They stand under the roof and watch the rain. Maren asks about his job. Owen asks about her trip last month.

Mereka berdiri di bawah atap dan menonton hujan. Maren bertanya tentang pekerjaannya. Owen bertanya tentang perjalanannya bulan lalu.

The rain stops after twenty minutes. The street looks clean and wet. "Same time next week?" Owen asks.

Hujan reda setelah dua puluh menit. Jalanan tampak bersih dan basah. "Minggu depan di jam yang sama?" tanya Owen.

Maren smiles and nods. "Bring an umbrella this time," she says. They walk to the bus stop together. They talk about the wet noodles.

Maren tersenyum dan mengangguk. "Kali ini bawa payung ya," katanya. Mereka berjalan bersama ke halte bus. Mereka membicarakan mi yang basah tadi.
