The Borrowed Key Mixup

Grace's neighbor, Simon, goes on a trip for a week. Before he leaves, he gives Grace a spare key.

Tetangga Grace, Simon, pergi bepergian selama seminggu. Sebelum berangkat, ia memberi Grace kunci cadangan.

"Please water my plants while I'm away," Simon says. "This key opens the back door."

"Tolong siram tanaman-tanamanku selama aku pergi," kata Simon. "Kunci ini untuk pintu belakang."

Grace puts the spare key on the hook by her front door. She hangs it next to her own house key.

Grace menggantung kunci cadangan itu di pengait dekat pintu depan rumahnya. Ia menggantungnya di sebelah kunci rumahnya sendiri.

Both keys are plain and silver. They look almost the same.

Kedua kunci itu polos dan berwarna perak. Keduanya hampir sama.

On Tuesday morning, Grace grabs a key from the hook. She walks next door.

Pada Selasa pagi, Grace mengambil sebuah kunci dari pengait. Ia berjalan ke rumah sebelah.

She puts the key in Simon's back door. The key does not turn.

Ia memasukkan kunci itu ke pintu belakang Simon. Kunci itu tidak mau berputar.

She tries again, but the door stays locked.

Ia mencoba lagi, tetapi pintunya tetap terkunci.

"That's strange," Grace says. "Simon told me this key works."

"Aneh," kata Grace. "Simon bilang kunci ini bisa dipakai."

She checks her pocket. She has only one key.

Ia memeriksa sakunya. Ia hanya punya satu kunci.

She picked up her own house key by mistake.

Ia salah mengambil kunci rumahnya sendiri.

Grace walks home and takes both keys off the hook. She carries them both next door.

Grace berjalan pulang dan mengambil kedua kunci dari pengait. Ia membawa keduanya ke rumah sebelah.

She tries the first key. It does not fit.

Ia mencoba kunci yang pertama. Kunci itu tidak cocok.

She tries the second key, and the door opens.

Ia mencoba kunci yang kedua, dan pintunya terbuka.

"There it is," Grace says. "That was the right key."

"Nah, ini dia," kata Grace. "Ini kunci yang benar."

She waters every plant on the porch and in the kitchen. She checks the soil as she goes.

Ia menyiram setiap tanaman di teras dan di dapur. Ia memeriksa tanahnya sambil berjalan.

Before she leaves, Grace ties red string around Simon's key. Now she can see which key is which.

Sebelum pergi, Grace mengikat benang merah di kunci milik Simon. Sekarang ia bisa membedakan kunci mana yang mana.

She locks the door and puts both keys in her pocket. Then she walks home.

Ia mengunci pintu dan memasukkan kedua kunci ke sakunya. Lalu ia berjalan pulang.
